He's right. I don't know if you can say it wouldn't have existed though, I think that is taking it too far, but he grew up and was apart of that then. We're all the same people anyway, just different flavors in the pot. The 12 tribes of Yasharahla.

There has been no form of Black music that has only been created or pushed forward by one type of Black people.

Especially a music genre created in NYC in the 70s, a city that has a significant population of Blacks from around the diaspora.

Tariq putting this sh1t out like we don't have people and artifacts from the beginning of hip hop proving that Blacks from America, from the english and spanish speaking caribbean, all worked together and were a part of the birth of hip hop. n1gga really tryna be the black trump. FBA = MAGA.

As a puerto rican myself, its hard to justify this to anyone outside of NYC who didnt grow up in the culture. I dont expect anyone outside of nyc to understand to be honest. KRS is a stand up dude for bringing it up because he didnt have to. That being said... Yes we contributed to the foundation of hiphop but in no way shape or form do we have a 50% stake in hiphop. We didnt do enough musically/culturally to justify that in my opinion...
We arent guests of hiphop either like white folks or anyone else...

Its just cool to be acknowledged by a legend like KRS.

I'm sure Latinos helped in the break-dancing and graffiti part......but when it comes to the MCing part......why are they never mentioned in any #5, hell, any top #20 lists?

Breakbeats came from black american music, point blank.

And it's not hard to see rap coming from other black american music.

All the other elements, I won't speak as definitively on.

But this stuff would not be around without people like James Brown and Clyde Stubblefield.

Tariq is saying Latinos contributed after Black people founded it. He even specifically name dropped a few Puerto Rican cats that's played a big role.

It's important to get the facts straight tho.

No one admits that Locking started in LA BEFORE Hip Hop existed.

The Campbell Lockers were on Soul Train. Locking is part of LAs dance culture that also includes Crip Walking, Clown Dancing, Krumping, and Jerking.

LA created the one of the foundational BBoy dance styles.. but no one from LA ever says we created it. Because we didn't. We influenced and contributed.

The Watts Prophets were rapping on beats before Hip Hop existed. But again that wasn't Hip Hop.

The reason this context is important is black Americans were segregated in a foreign land.. and we were never given leadership or control.

So the arts is all we have. We had to create that despite the bullshyt. Modern film is originated from minstrel shows which were a parody of slave plays.

Brazil didn't create Jiu Jitsu, they added to it. Same thing. B Boying can be traced back to the CakeWalks hundred of years ago

Latinos wasn't fu#king with hip hop in its
Early stages. They jumped on later

Salute to Charlie chase for keeping it real

Only reason they trying to rewrite history
The next Olympics will have break dancing
And they want less black people involved as possible. We seen this play before

But krs1 in a lot of dude hidden color films
Tariq nasheed a whole agent anyway
That n1gga sister married to a white Latino dude

Behind the scenes all Tariq nasheed circle are white people. His publisist, camera crews, inlaws
Dude hired a Hispanic catering service for the opening of the muesem

Y'all throw around the term "African" too loosely

What part of Africa would Latinos blend?
Latinos are mostly Spaniard and Italian

What part of Africa has pale and beige skin people with strait hair?

And America was a black continent
When the Spanish and other Europeans arrived here.

Not true and KRS has always been biased due his Caribbean upbringing within the household….

A lot of people want to make HIPHOP pan-African (which it is a part of the greater diaspora) but historically HipHop was a Black American creation….

Yes others ethnicities were there, but they did not contribute (significantly enough) to be called co-creators ….

Black American music has always been the centerpiece of American music (& culture), every generation of music was evolved into a new iteration since Negro spirituals evolved into gospel, ragtime, swing, blues, country music, soul, rock & roll, disco to finally to house/R&B/rap ….

Respect

Edit:
Most (if not all) of the individuals claiming that HipHop is a multicultural creation ARE either multicultural or of multicultural descent….
