This is why the next move should be to release music in the form of music videos (I'm talking the whole album worth) in the movie theater. It'll do real numbers that give artists real money from those numbers.

That's a dope idea but budget prevents that from being a thing. The artist would defiently owe the label with 9+ videos interesting enough to pack a theater. Again though, that's smart though.

What needs to happen imo, is artists need to have a team/developers that can code. Get a server and make your own website with your music on it strictly. It's gonna take a giant in the industry to move away from the labels and standards but it can be done. Physical media also needs to make a comeback. No saying CDs, Vinyl but some new sort of tech that is more hands on and valuable to the listener.

These labels are in cahoots with the DSPs so there's no escaping the robbery until you remove yourself from the DSPs all together.

The real problem is the audio medium is too easy to access. You can craft a hit with an iPad and usb mic.

Direct to consumer using web3 and incentivizing fans with NFT’s on the blockchain. That will suppress the madness from the labels. Tory was on hai way to doing this and taking this model directly to the fan base

NFTs are dead...unless you jump on it early. Nobody will pay thousands for something they can't use for anything. People was gettin' scammed..

I'm talking about physical units with the artists entire discography, videos, bio, pictures, etc. bundled into a ↪🔗. you can transfer the music to your streaming app or media player.

No NFTs are not dead, the jpegs and bored ape sh1t might be. Thats just one of many use cases.

But the underlying technology behind the NFTs can be used by artists to give various different things.

Like signed collectables, unreleased music, special customizable shout outs etc. all can be used as an interactive way to communicate with fans or super fans. Which can also be authenticated

You need movie studios to distribute it

they have the theaters on lock down

ask Taylor Swift and Beyonce

y'all got all these easy DIY solutions to ths

but its not the answer

because the labels and studios...DSPs are the gatekeepers

NO one is INDEPENDENT that you see on a major platform these days

you think people are going bacK to buying music? albums are just promo nowadays...the product is actually the artist....they use the music to get you to concerts or to sell you merch, or to get big enough to sign a deal with nike etc...few and far in between are those that are making real money just with music

The answer is release it using blockchain technology idk why artist aren’t doing this you can completely cut out the middle man and DSP the only issue would be mass adoption and ease of use

Rappers that make actual good music aren’t getting endorsements like that so they rely on a smaller more loyal fan base to pay for there music and go to shows.

Its literally a click of the button. If your favorite artist put his new EP as an exclusive you will click a link and listen to it. Its not complicated its like using an app

Correct. So they wouldn’t make money off music either way.

The biggest thing they overlook when they complain about streaming is that a lot of the streams come from people that haven’t spent a dime. YouTube & Spotify is free. Yea they throw in ads but most people that use the free versions do for a reason. They don’t have the money to spend. If free versions didn’t exist they’d just steal the music anyway lol. At least with streaming the streams from the freeloaders eventually add up to some kind of profit instead of nothing at all.

Definitely not the answer. People would just download it for free before they went through all of that. Paying to download MP3’s is probably the most insane thing you could ever type on BX.
