When I'm on Windows, it's Media Monkey

When using my MacBook Air, I use Apple Music.

MusicBrainz Picard, for tagging and naming. Doesn't play audio, that's what mpd/mpc is for.

Might check these out, MusicBrainz seems interesting for database management. Reason I use MediaMonkey is because I have a IPod Classic and MM provides syncing. iTunes on Windows is useless now since the Music app release.

But yeah, I made the thread to see what people are using and so we can put people on to apps they may not know about.

How does that work when you play it then? Do you need both apps open?

I got too much sh1t and vinyl that I need to rip.

MusicBrainz Picard is a separate program that just handles the file names, structure and metadata. It saves all the metadata to the music file so that any competent audio player on any platform/system can read that information when said file is played.

Once the file information has been edited you save and close the program.

From then you use whichever your prefered audio player is - VLC, Foobar2000, WinAmp etc.

It's great for tagging ripped CDs and (probably) vinyl.

Roon “IMO” is the best. Yes, I paid for the lifetime subscription during the pandemic ($700) but it exceeded my expectations with managing my music from a front end solution! Picard is dope also, I use it to standardize all files.

iTunes. I don't use a lot of my old collection. I have a MacBook Pro, and don't use my externals that house most of my collection. I stream and keep it legal now.

Been using MediaMonkey for the last 15byears no problems. Moved my whole library every time I got a new laptop...tr@nsition was nearly seamless

Also has a phone app that connects with your pc library and can act as a remote or speaker
