It's not as good of a movie as the trailers make it out to be. Though, it was a entertaining movie.

The movie was a great disappointment. I couldn't wait to see it when I first saw all of the previews. I wish I would have saved my $7.00 and borrowed it from a friend instead. The movie was unrealistic and the plot has been done so many times that the whole movie felt like a rerun. Major dissapointment.

^^^exactly. I was quite gripped but like someone else said, as soon as they hit tim robbins cellar, it was all over.

-story had too many holes (camcorder still working, son still alive, etc etc)

gave it a 3 just for the effects

ps, man that fenning was annoying!

to me, the movie was quite interesting. It wasnt your usual "Aliens blow sh*t up, some brave heros finds a flaw, and he blows aliens up" Independence day type movie. I like the fact that people continuously DIED (or maybe thats just me liking to see carnage) There were a few holes in the plot, but who cares. So waht bobby managed to get to boston (he should have been k!lled for taking that pretty a.ss car) So what grannys house wasnt blown to sh*t... Only three things pissed me off.... the lack of more bloodshed, and the fact that they died off germs... and i didnt get to see Tom Cruise beat the fu*k outta Tim Robins. Seems pointless to wait a million years to catch HIV from sucking a gay guys "fluids" (puts an end to that "protective suit" thing ive read about)

ROFLMAO!

peeps..just think about the movie again
Ok u mite say its science-fiction
but what the f... was the purpose of the movie? I mean a few minutes into the movie u could imagine the happy-ending...
and they suddenly after millions of years dig out their 'vehicles' after putting them there ages ago...i mean wtf...a baby could write a better story
disappointing

i liked war of the worlds alot, i think it gave a great dipiction of what would happen if aliens came down to earth. and i think i have answers to some of the questions that people have about it.....

Why did the sheilds break down?

Because the ailen's weapons and machiens were organic (they uesd the power of nature to do everything) like using lightning bolts to transport down to earth, and using magnetic pulses to shut down equipment. So their ships were most likely fueled by the human blood they were spraying everywhere, or from the red roots that were soaking up energy from the earths soil.

How did the aliens know to put the tripods in major cities?

They didnt, if you paid attention to the beginning of the movie they talk about how the first lightning strikes happened in the ukraine (not exactly a major place in the world)

How could the aliens plant the tripods and not know about the bacteria?

They planted the tripods durring the early days of earth. They then left and were observing us from their planet that was likely millions of light years away. Durring their flight back to earth (traveling at the speed of light) time would move normally for them, but millions of years of earth time would pass allowing for the evolution of bacteria that would be deadly to them. (Theroy of Relativity)

i agree with the other posters that said the aliens wouldnt have a prss conference to tell us why there were here. all they were intrested in doing was studying us and then k!lling us and taking our planet.

It was as if Speilberg and Cruise were made for Sci-Fi thrillers....this was the sequel to Minority Report....to me the best blockbuster for the summer.
