At upper echelons like this all legends have a stake in the game but in my nobody a$s opinion being humble in speech and proud in artistry speaks leagues to the person behind the art.

Basically: I ain't qualified to have qn opinion but wish he didn't allow an interviewer to rile him up

D Dot is nice but alot of his joints had co-producers. Dilla had The Ummah but as we later found out he did 90% if not all the work within that group.

Also, his protege Kanye can see his catalog.

I’m trying to understand why he’d throw Dilla’s name out there. You can speak on your own catalog being underrated/overlooked without speaking on another man. Especially when you probably have no real idea how the man you speaking on changed how a lot of MUSICIANS approached their craft.

Him throwing Dilla name out there as if he’s still alive and as if he was just a common backpacker that didn’t have groundbreaking sh1t of his own told me somethin about D.Dot as a man.

I watched it 2 days ago and posted the clip that most are passing around on Twitter. The more I talk bout it with others, the more I know that not only are most not watching the vid, but they also don't know Dot's catalog.

The Hitmen had to battle it out as duos against each other. Ron and Dot made Where I'm From by Hov and Puff had to make Dot the captain/head of Hitmen due to his contributions.

There is this misconception that producers are just beatmakers. Producers coach on vocal performance, decide who is working on what, chooses arrangements among other contributions.

The question was asked what the Hitmen had to go through as far as their catalog being downplayed. Dot mentions that 88 Keys apologized to him years back.

He says he knew 88 because 88 was with Kanye as Dot mentored and managed Kanye early.

88 was apologizing about him not respecting what the Hitmen did as producers commercially. He used Dilla as an example of the route people would want producers to go and not pop as much.

Its not sh1tting on Dilla to say that his approach is considered pure, but comes with less visibility/compensation down the line.

He said that to pop, the Hitmen did 112, Mase, etc popular records, but are rarely shown appreciation for these that are clearly Hip Hop

Out here in LA as a middle school kid in 96, some of us hated bad boy as a record label, crew and staff. We were forced to listen to that sh1t on the radio, but fu#k them shiny suits.

I'd respect this man's work if he didn't bring down one of the greatest beat makers all time. Dilla made the most complicated sh1t that would sound basic to the casual. This grumpy old man literally made no changes to the samples he used, even taking the same lyrics and just changing them to "bad boy".

Muhfu#kas weren't mad at u for being sellout, they was mad at u for selling millions on microwave beats. The reason hip hop is so fu#king dumb down is cus bi#ches like u. fu#k outta here.

"Oh we could've done that type of beat too". But u didn't. So take ur money, stay home, and don't disrespect a man who put his life into his craft. U don't get mentioned as all time great cus u chose money over art. Ok im done venting.

I’m not hating on the backpackers but Donuts isn’t anything special at all and has no impact on the game.

I'm sorry but.... and this is just me being a Detroit n1gga..... Dilla had a style you had to love. Like how people said Dre is a perfectionist on what he do you got to feel the same way about Dilla work! Everything he did you had to nod your head too!
