We're in a restaurant bubble

To now the point where going out to eat doesn't even make sense anymore.

Just last week...

PANERA: Family of 6 (4 young kids) - 6 entrees & 6 drinks was $73.

LOCAL GRILL: 6 entrees, 2 waters & 4 kid drinks - $78 (they also charged me a surprise 3% fee for using a CC)

Effing iHOP: 2 bfast sandwiches, 4 plates of kids pancakes, 4 chocolate milks - $60 lol (doesn't a pancake cost $0.10 to make)

Even Chick Fil A is $55+ for each trip.

We used to eat out 5-10x per week... now it's just not worth it.

As credit card bills mount in America, I expect many restaurants at these prices will get desserted (pun intended)

Already happening in small biz retail starting last year.

Restaurants next.

You're not paying for the food. You're paying for the family outing. Now if these were to go plates. Then you might as well cook at home.

"Going out to eat" is going to Panera, ihop and chickfila??

Paying money at any of those places isn't worth going out if your bill was only $10. All those places serve terrible food.

Was out last night in the Arts District eating with a buddy who's in the industry. Per him, what we're seeing is venders trying to recoup their losses from 2020-2022. He told me pre pandemic he was paying $25 per create of potatoes (which again per him is where restaurants make their money), last week that same crate is $75. Restaurants are outta passing the cost off to the customer.

You shouldnt of been eating out 5-10x a week to begin with, that NEVER made sense. Especially with kids. Anyone who can even make that statement is coming from such a deluded place.

And 70 bucks for a family of 6 is cheap af. With drinks?
I swear its like a mf never tried to sell a box of chocolate. You gotta pay for the box of candy youre selling bro...

If you have a family….No

It you’re single and use apps and coupons….Definitely

My lil unit and I just got all that for 25 bucks with using points for a free 3 piece. This lunch and dinner.

Cooking how I like to cook with ingredients would’ve been more money and more labor intensive. Cleaning time and using cleaning supplies included.

Even going to fast food/"fast casual"/takeout joints is costing about the same as a sit down restaurant did not too long ago.

I'm easily paying over $10 for a meal, no drink..... and now EVERYWHERE is asking for a tip
