.... I tear up by the end of the film every single time, ever since I first saw it as a kid. It used to be when Sam Cooke came on, now it's around the time Mandela speaks to the class.

This may be the most powerful film I've ever seen....

I already started studying the history of Moors more recently but I'm gonna thoroughly read the Quran in 2024. I been feeling empty as fukk lately. Love me some black gospel music though but I'm still not sure where I stand on if Jesus is the son of god or just a prophet, like it says in the Quran. Need to know more.

I don't cry but I'm always hoping it ends differently for some reason. One of Spikes best flicks

The study of man and history and social/physical sciences are mandatory for human evolution imho.

Another good book is "Essays on Man" by Alexander Pope.

Here's a free online version ↪🔗

Start from "ARGUMENT OF EPISTLE I."

An excerpt - hip hop helped me to appreciate such works.

. EPISTLE II.
I. Know, then, thyself, presume not God to scan;
The proper study of mankind is man.
Placed on this isthmus of a middle state,
A being darkly wise, and rudely great:
With too much knowledge for the sceptic side,
With too much weakness for the stoic’s pride,
He hangs between; in doubt to act, or rest;
In doubt to deem himself a god, or beast;
In doubt his mind or body to prefer;
Born but to die, and reasoning but to err;
Alike in ignorance, his reason such,
Whether he thinks too little, or too much:
Chaos of thought and passion, all confused;
Still by himself abused, or disabused;

Mannn i understand. I almost didn't wanna watch it last night either

Seeing Bunk & Gus Fringe with them evil & demonic facial expressions do something to me every time

Especially when he met Malcolm's daughter and says, 'your very welcolmed my beautiful little sister' ... knowing the whole time he finna murder this child's father soon as he step out

One of my favorite movies. Didn't discover this film until 2002. Probably watched it 5 times that year.

I had to re-evaluate some shyt last night as to why it wasn't a top 10 film for me. It has to be in there.

That movie has a 3 hr and 21 min run time and it's a beautiful piece the whole way thru. Never ever felt like a chore to watch.

Also watching a person evolve like that, coming from the dark all the way to the light. Yeah, no film has ever had that type of impact over my whole life.

It always leaves me wanting to b a better person, after every single watch

I turn it off as soon as Sam starts singing
Been doing that for idk 20 years lol

If you're only interested in the abrahamic faiths I understand, but there are other creation stories much older that these faiths draw from, such as the epic of gilgamesh, the Atrahasis etc.
Those are good reads and can fill in some blanks for you

Also, there are authors that wrote about the Indigenous people's faith during the 17th and 18th centuries. Several of them theorized that the Indians were the 10 tribes from the Bible.
James Adair and Thomas Thorowgood are some of them. Great books, cheap too cause they old AS lol. They're written in old English, that can take some getting used to. They are easier to follow than the kjv though IMO

Know the ledge bro

Peace

i could watch it from start to end without looking away i love watching it because Denzel Washington ran down on that role and did it justice

to know the true story years later washing shocking because we all knew who clap him because he went against them for obvious reasons

crazy thing he told them he didn't watch too much security that night

One of those films when you forget you’re watching an actor. Denzel bodied the role.
