This site is faaaar from perfect but at the same time it’s also one of, if not the, only sites where I feel comfortable as an African American man.

That said, even though I already sonehat knew this, just a taste of that reddit venom on it has opened my eyes a bit more. And Reddit is a site I see as much more civil than other social media spaces. But for an extremely large sub to act like that?

Anyway, the realization. The public will take any and every chance to attack or sh1t on black women. Especially confident ones or ones they see not acting the way they deem they should act, they’ll call out their character, bully them, and dogwhistle the sh1t out of them. And take great glee in it all along the way. This has greatly colored my perspective in a positive way and I empathize more. I absolutely see why black women as a whole can be quiet hypersensitive to any slight or criticism because when they are a target it can be very venenous and messy.
