Yeah, I would probably personally only prefer some bass, to top it off.
But this puts me in the mind of some Ronnie Jordan (RIP), Karl Denson, etc.
It makes perfect sense to me, for a hip hop artist to mature into moreso of a "jazz" aesthetic; along the lines of what y'all have said here.

If everyone watched the movie Idlewild or listened to the LoveBelow side, Dre has been experimenting with music for a while. Elements of 1930s-era blues and jazz music are however featured prominently in many of the musical numbers in that film.
But I look at this current project as being more stripped down. If you look at 3000 as just a rapper, then you might be disappointed but if you look at him the way I do, which is in the vein of somebody like Prince, George Clinton, Rick Rubin, Ye, Ghostface, Mf Doom, MIA, Sly, Jimi, Warhol, Fab Five Freddy, you know he's a visual artist, a creative, a maverick and somebody who zigs when everyone zags as a musician.
This album is really taking you inside the kind of a musical genius at his most bare(pause) moment of reflection. This is a guy who was a member of a group that went Diamond and NEVER had a critical or commercial flop and an artist who made a fortune telling you fame is unhuman and I'm going to play my flute, rock my gold teeth, do my own laundry in public, and be free.
No artist on his level has gotten to do what he's done while keeping his sanity, and those that have are still contractually obligated to keep performing in the circus due to the massive demand of the audience, labels, debts, and creditors.
Andre still has his sanity. I think this is a groundbreaking sh1t considering where the culture is at. Most of this new stuff isn't even music, it's computer-generated- AI noise, this album is like Be Still and Know that I am God! lol
