The info that's coming out is that there's a rogue Chinese data broker group called D2 that has indexed 10x more data than Google and Sam contracted with them to use their data to build gpt 4 without telling the board, investors or most of his executive team.

Still, there's allegedly emergency negotiating going on to bring him back since his boys walked out with him.

If true, that's huge.

Microsofts CEO Satya is probably talking to the board & all the investors now. Convincing them that OpenAI is gonna be safer under Microsofts corporate umbrella.

This is the guy who fired Sam Altman. He believes humanity is headed to a very scary place if OpenAI doesn't get the next few steps right when it comes to AI.

Sam feels like OpenAI should be speeding towards the future, without taking their foot off the gas, to keep their lead and competitive advantage.

The investors and partners side with Sam. Won't be surprised if he's back in his spot this week with the entire board dismantled.

I have no professional background in the stock market. I just research, run my research by people smarter than me, & ask alot of questions.

Smart move by Satya and his team

It stands to reason that he has been given carte blanche to do his own thing, even at a behemoth like Microsoft—otherwise he may have taken more time to consider his next move. The company will also have total control over anything created by Altman and fellow OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman, who is also joining the new team. Something it didn’t have with OpenAI in which it has a 49% stake.

But on another serious note, the openai chief scientist (Ilya), who built gpt & rang the alarm that started all this weekend drama has seen something that spooked him out bad. That's still a big question mark that nobody is addressing publicly. Lot of speculation.

From what I read, he's the opposite of Sam A... 0 ego, no real interest in financial gain and truly wants to make sure AI serves humanity. Bro sees something very bad in the near future for him to crash the company that his lifes work is tied to.

All I can think about is... as soon as gpt gets to a point where it can write the next version of itself by itself, it's either gonna be all good or all bad from there. Like sending a kid off to college. Hope they've packed the right values in there cuz you have no more control at that point...

I see it like this. He seems to be an introvert genius with pure intentions according to everyone who knows him. He probably did what he did out of a genuine concern.

But after an exhausting weekend of emergency meetings, getting cursed out by all the big dogs, reading thousands of social media mentions, and realizing he single handedly crashed 1 of the most important tech companies in the world, that he helped build, he's been beaten into submission. An introvert scientist ain't built for all this corporate warfare. Bro probably realizes that no matter what he does, capitalism remains undefeated so maybe it wasn't even worth trying...
