In NYC the money get a lot better and more doors open up with a bachelors degree….

Even tho the right Cisco or a CISSP cert should be enough I think the IT pool got flooded in the 2000s so employers started raising the bar

Usually with some IT roles it's an "in lieu" of, with enough years of experience to meet the degree qualification. Sometimes. But, you're right, I'd imagine places like NY would require it. Also depends on what you're doing. At the end of the day you can self study all that stuff still be at Google.

Exactly why I'm not reenlisting

For not having a degree, I'm a regular now in USPS being 4 1/2 yrs in and hittin 60k mark doin at least 4 hrs of OT a week in NYC. Workin in distribution center in Manhattan...not bustin my a$s actually delivering mail lol

Thank god for Covid because a sh1t load of old timers retired cuz they didnt want to die on the job and I became a fulltime regular with full benefits and a TSP savings account in 2021. If it wasnt for covid, I prob woulda became a reg now in 2023.

This. Military experience will beat out most degree having candidates. Especially since the Military will send you to school so you can get the certs. Certs + Mil career + clearance is just as good as a Degree for any contracting work.
