If you are streaming my music that often but I only get 25 bucks off of those streams.....the logical side of me says I just be trying to sell that fan something else other than music because they obviously like my product

This why y’all need to do what the Barbz do for your favorite artists. They perfected that sh1t.

Back when you bought singles how often would you listen to it? Couple times a day maybe? 4 or 5 tops? You could listen to it 20 times if you wanted i guess. Well, you have that single to listen to forever, however many times per day and you only paid 2.99 for it before streaming. Sounds like a better deal for artists now if you do the math

Are these numbers legit? 20 times a day for 365 days would be 7300 streams for $25.
By the same metric when these artists get the #1 spot with 150000 streams first week they earned about:
150,000 / 7,300 = 20.547 * 25 = $ 513.67

You comparing single streams to album streams. Two totally different things. Your math is way off.
Ah true, you're right. It's measured in album equivalent units which on Spotify is 1 album equivalent unit = 1500 streams.

That would mean the average first week #1 Billboard release ~150k album equivalent * 1500 = 225,000,000.
According to the tweet 7300 streams is equal to $25.
225,000,000/7,300= 30,821.917 * $25 =
$770,547. 95 payout

music being distributed on a non physical medium really fu#ked it up for artists...more can be discovered but whats the point if its worth less...id rather sell 10 cds for 10 each on the street and make a 100 dollars in a day and be local than this nonsense

Might be better than buying a CD for 15.99 which they only release every other year but then again, what would I know. I'm just a BX poster

Streaming parties. I usually see them hosting on Twitter. They’ll pick a time to stream a certain song and then you’ll see it go up the charts. That’s literally why Nicki always charts.

I'm not gonna look at the math there lol but spotify is one of the cheapest, you get paid about .004 per stream. That would be 600 bucks for 150k

That’s why selling a fan 1 album direct is the equivalent $ of them being a Spotify superfan of yours for 15 years.

*sighs* most artists money are from

1. Advance Money (loan)
2. Touring
3. Merch

no one is making money from sales anymore. sh1t they probably never was. Pac and Biggie were both broke and wanted to leave their labels.

One million people a day streaming 1 song tho...

Anyways, I still don't understand how streaming platforms generate enough money to pay artists and run their biz.

Like if Spotify got 20m custos paying $10 that's 200m a month. Lot of bread but I guess I'd like to see the streams there's thousands of big name current artists and legends that are played millions of times a day.

And I doubt the ads for the free platforms are paying enough

That's y prince ain't want his stuff streamed and I'm surprised he didn't have a will to prevent it for when he passed

I’d say “Go to a show” to support your favorite artist, but Boxden proves time and time again that nobody goes outside, whenever concerts are discussed here.

These numbers are NOT correct.

Streaming payments vary by service and by how the person streams the song.

For example, there is a higher streaming fee if the person listening is a paid subscriber compared to someone on a free tier.

There’s also a higher payout if someone specifically selects your song as opposed to it coming up randomly like in a playlist.

Artist never made money off of radio plays or album sales.
They only made majority of their money off touring.

why do folks think whining about that on the internet is going to change things?

If the artist wants to make more money he better work his a$s off to give fans a reason to see him/her live or cut a better deal coming in.
