He's saying he lost sight of it in the weather after the ejection.

I saw a expert predict that the automatic auto pilot kicked in and malfunction and he couldn't regain control so he had to eject before the fuel ran out and the plane crashed because he had no control to land it safely

Believe it or not there is enough money and time allocated in pilot training that they would rather lose the plane than the pilot.
