I quit playing right before pitchers could throw curves/sliders/knuckleballs. It was hard enough batting against pitchers that threw heat. Kids were more grown in the early/mid 90's. Some of these dudes had arms at like age 11

Hitting a baseball is the hardest act in sports but Hockey is definitely the most difficult sport to play

The deflection goal (or the re-direction goal) is amazingly difficult

There's a slo motion replay of the deflection at 1:29 in the video.

Pierre Turgeon deflects a shot--that initially looks to be going wide--right into the net. The hand-eye coordination that that took is kind of mind-boggling (gotta admit, though, that having the puck go into the neck involved a bit of luck).

I still think Hockey is the most demanding sport, and of course, I've never played it and only watched will the Blackhawk made the playoffs for the recent championships.

They need an option to watch the whole game on a view like that.

A 90 MPH pitch is traveling at about 132 feet per second. The mound is 60'6" away from the plate (the distance could be considerably shorter, when you consider where the pitcher actually releases the ball. A pitcher's hand could be 6 feet in front of the rubber by the time he lets the ball go). So...you have less than half of a second to decide if you're going to swing and then figure out where to swing.

And all we're talking about here is just hitting the ball--not about hitting it into fair territory OR hitting it hard enough or far enough OR hitting it to a spot that will result in the batter getting on base.

Nahhhh, used to be the hardest thing in sport. Until MMA and jiu jitsu got popular. The hardest thing to do in sports is getting out sh1t like this.

Slightly misses the point in my opinion.

The thread is positing that just "HITTING" a baseball is a difficult act--not even taking into a account how far or where the ball is being hit. Hitting a golf ball is not hard. It's just sitting there, stationary, waiting on you to bring your club to it.

Simply hitting a baseball is FAR more difficult than simply hitting a golf ball.

Hitting a hole in one (of any distance) vs. Hitting a Home run (of any distance) is a totally different discussion.

You can make an argue for anything. And if you think pro basketball is easier than hockey I can’t take you seriously
