Question for the fellas that watched the NFL in the 90s, 2000s and early 2010s.

How physical were corners able to be with the wrs? I noticed that 1 on 1 situations with wrs never really work out that much for Dbs. Especially when they go up against wrs that constantly run slants. Was being a cornerback always this terrible???
