There's one product that has been making all the headlines from Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference in Cupertino, California, on Monday.

The announcement of the Vision Pro headset marked the tech giant's foray into the metaverse — although the company stayed clear of using that branding.

But on TikTok and Twitter, everyone has been laughing about the audience's reaction to the Vision Pro's eye-watering price tag.

The reaction is all the more interesting because the annual conference is typically attended by only the most enthusiastic Apple fans.

Tim Cook may be hoping they've put the high-yield Apple savings account to use.

"The Vision Pro's $3,499 sticker price will inhibit adoption, but Apple is not looking to make money off this product just yet," Anisha Bhatia, a senior technology analyst at GlobalData, said.

"The Vision Pro is Apple's attempt at cracking open the extended reality (XR) door to create an addressable market with iterations of Vision Pro in the years to come," she said.

Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

This is a high level enthusiast device that I honestly only see devs, and businesses purchasing. It's not meant for gaming which is what people seemed to be hyping it up for since the leaks in 2019. The specs on this thing are absolutely ridiculous and sh1ts on even the highest end VR headsets on the market. It's even custom fitted to the user this ain't no oculus you buy for your 4 year old so you can leave them unattended online.

I would never buy this sh1t because if ain't making me money or healthier it ain't worth more than 2g's. That being said it's ability to record pure stereoscopic content for VR (which is a functionality that starts at 1500 dollars standalone) will revolutionize... POV videos if you know what I mean.

He’s right about this tho, this is primarily for devs and people working in fields that could use this.

This is absolutely not made for most consumers. The screen itself costs Apple $700 and that’s with them likely getting it at a discount.

That’s why I don’t understand why people saying PSVR2 is expensive are even feigning interest in this. The original rumor was this was gonna be 3K which makes people getting mad at this price look even dumber

Agreed. I see previews saying this is going to revitalize the AR/VR field. At $3499, unless they offer financing, I'm not sure this is a product for general consumers.
