Dude straight up said he doesn’t give a fck about originality as long as the job gets done. Sometimes less is more, access beats raw talent, etc. Virgil was the poster child for all that.

The funny part is that for half of the covers that are mentioned, they immediately point out that he commissioned some other artist/designer to do the actual creating. I get that there is value in being able to identify talent and bring things together, but when it's directly credited to him even after stating who the actual creative was... idk.
