Wayne is a legend, had one of the biggest runs in rap history and is top 5 when it comes shifting the culture

But does anyone notice how no one talks his ALBUMS? It’s always either his mixtape or his verses/freestyles/punchlines…. And when his albums are in conversation, it’s just the Carter 2 as being his best, and 3 as being his prime

Do y’all fu#k wit Wayne’s ALBUMS? Or just his verses?

It seems to me that after Carter 3, his albums started sounding like mixtape tracks instead of SONGS. Especially Carter 4. It was like hooks put in between freestyles

Idk bout the Rock album, but IANAHB was cool

I was very surprised with that FWA too!! When I heard it I was shocked to see him do actual songs with concept

Yea no one says “Yo that Wayne album….” They say “Yo that Wayne verse” or “Yo that Wayne mixtape”

I think his closest to a classic would be The block Is Hot. Just cuz it had that same style and sound as 400 degrees

Man fu#k it, idk lol it’s crazy how ya gotta sit and think of a classic from someone like Wayne

Nas: illmatic
Jay: reasonable doubt
Pac: AEOM
biggie: Ready to die
Cube: death certificate
Snoop: doggystyle
50: GRODT
Wayne: ……..

sh1t even game has a considerable classic with The Documentary

Great…. But classic?

U hear more about his verses than albums

I fu#ked with both albums. But can’t remember bringing them up when talking bout the best hiphop albums

C3 is the critically acclaimed one, but to me, C2 is better…. But would I put it in my top 10 albums?? Uhhhhhh idk lol it’s confusing

Carter 2 is legal crack..Crack... that album is flames from start to finish. That album had a huge place in hiphops timestamp.

Carter 1 was great to me too, it was a slightly younger Wayne, then 2 he fully progressed.... when 3 came out, Wayne was on TOP of the game...

His album discography is weak, tbh. He makes up for it with features, MIXTAPES galore. Half his best sh1t, or better, will be found on mixtapes

Let me preface this that I didn't really become a Wayne fan until C1 so I am not speaking on any albums before that one... C2 and C3 are consensus classics... C1 is good, C4 is good. IANAHB is good if you're a Wayne fan. Free Weezy album is good imo. The rest are mid and or trash although Rebirth holds a special place in my heart for nostalgic purposes.

Wayne doesn’t make great albums because he’s not good at writing hooks, he’s just a clever punchline rapper who’s biggest songs were mostly prepackaged

GO DJ - Mannie
Lollipop- Static
A milli - sample
Got money - t pain
6’7 - sample
John - rick ross
How to love - he didn’t write
She will - drake

His bread & butter were freestyles and features because all he had to do was rap

Carter II is the first and only one that really comes to mind.

Carter I is awesome and all but some of those tracks just didn't age well with me.

Carter II tho, press play and be on your way.

Other albums just have awesome tracks but not a cohesive feel an album should have.

You have to also realize, alot of mixtapes are essentially albums that were not released. I would agree other than the Carter 2/3 - wayne does not have a classic album, even those two albums are not really classics to me.

Waynes legacy is much more than albums though, and the amount of material he put out that was quality in his prime probably superscedes everyones favourite rappers. SQ tapes 1-7, dedication mixtapes, prefix and suffix tapes, all of the leaked carter material/full albums that were scrapped, the like father like son album he made before they added baby. There's literally so much - and so many moments, like when wayne ate Jay-Z 's blueprint beats, or would take n1ggas beats and make you forget about the original song.

But to answer your question yes wayne does not have a classic album, - also an issue that contributes to that is that prime wayne cannot rap coherently on a track, he raps like he has ADHD jumping from topic to topic every second. Post-Jail wayne is coherent, but he is also pure hot garbage - fu#k what anyone says, wayne has never been the same since jail and he will never be what he once was.

Everything pre-C3 imo were all good to great. Hell, C3 was good, just not what everyone initially made it out to be. I fu#k with some of C4 but after that I feel like I've heard everything I need to hear from this n1gga.
