I miss 1998-2005 era Chappelle, his new current day standups are too political and preachy. Has he fallen off?!

With the influence he has, it's irresponsible for him not to be political.

The Chappelle show as funny as it was did a number on him. He looked up and realized who was laughing at what he was doing and decided to switch it up. Dude definitely made a great bounce back from that tho.

No he’s hasn’t “fallen off”. He has grown and matured like every other human on this planet. Which is perfectly reflected in his work.

Chappelle has always tapped into things like politics in his routines. Only people that say he has fallen off are people that are probably only familiar with Chappelle Show and not the stand-ups.

Comedians tend to age terribly jokes wise because their material is usually edgy. Edgy in 1999 gets you cancelled in 2023. Same sh1t happened to Adam Carolla. They don't change, they just don't notice what they're saying is being consumed by a very different audience than it used to be.

He did say what happened. That $50M wasn’t sh1t compared to what he was supposed to get and it sounded like he realized how fu#ked up hollywood was/is. There’s a reason he lives in Yellow Springs, OH. You’ll also notice how hard(pause) he goes for the art of comedy/freedom of speech and the love he has for his audience.

I’m curious tho, is Netflix considered “Hollywood” or are they a disrupter in the business? I remember when he said he asked Netflix to take down the Chappelle Show and they did. Netflix lets him say all the sh1t that could get you cancelled. In fact, if it was anyone else that says what he says, they would be cancelled.

I still like Dave but it aint the same.

I know people evolve and grow, but I miss the jokes w/o getting super deep into politics and sh1t.
