We need to start differentiating streaming music and quality music, 90% of the music done today is for streaming purposes. Honestly at times it bothers me going on Tiktok and seeing these cheesy 'open verses' everyone acting like a rapper has actually watered down the craft.

Seeing complete nobodies drop $300 on a fit and a music video, sh1ts just weird to me how bad everyone wants to be a rapper just to 'fit in'. I aint with that i respect n1ggas craft and penmanship.

Like Wayne said, Back in the day, your music used to have to impress A&Rs/Execs. Now, you just have to get hot on social media, Look like a cartoon, and that'll be enough to get signed.

There’s some great sht out there.. you just have to find it. But that’s just my opinion. I like sht that says something, somewhat deep, but can fuk around at the same time. I think the audience is more shallow themselves and that’s why the music that’s “hot” reflects it. But then of course there’s the too deep, I hate my life sht. Suicidal youngins at an all time high. I agree but those A&Rs/Execs are what made the youngins go another route to pop-off, Remember that in the 00s DJ/Radio Program Directors, A&Rs & Execs were major gatekeepers in Hip Hop. While i agree that gatekeeping did do some good by providing quality control at the same time it kept many actually great talents from ever being recognized, Which is why for a while there people were going to Miami & ATL to get their spins.
