Going from Andis T-Outliner to Philips Norelco 9000

So I will be going from this:

To this:

I've been using T-Outliner for around 10 years. But lately I've been getting dark marks/razor bumps. So I would like a change. How do I tr@nsition to this new shaver? I heard that it takes time for my face to get used to a new shaver. I just hope this new shaver doesn't exacerbate any issues on my face.

Is it better to go with a dry shave or shave with shaving cream/gel?

I just dont want to end up with this around my face

Are you a minority? If so, single blade razors or something like the Andis or Bevel trimmer are best for your hair type. Make sure you're disinfecting your blades and cleaning/exfoliating the area after you shave so your pores open up. You have to keep in mind that course hair is generally more prone to the bumps/ingrown hairs, but it definitely shouldn't look like crispy bar.

I never used a shaver like the Phillips but they aren't really designed with minorities hair in mind. It may lead to more bumps but you can try it and see if it works for you.

Yeah, I'm a Black. Very coarse hair. I'm wondering if I use shaving gel/foam that will help?

Just exfoliate like the man said.

If you're cleaning yourself up after every cut or shave you won't get any marks or blemishes.

Those are two different tools my guy. Ones meant for shaving and one gives u a real close cut, not shaving the hair to the skin

Everytime I shave myself I get razor bumps. That's one of the main reasons I go to a barber. I never bump up after a shave at the barber shop

Op needs to buy a bevel trimmer where he could adjust the blade on a whim...plus the trimmer doesn't heat up or rust much giving you dark marks bumps or scrapes

Maybe because the barber uses alcohol after the shave and you dont

Just looking at those Phillips razors make my face hurt, I don't know if the technology has improved but i remember buying one in 2011-2012 and since i have black hair and its thick (pause) it would pull on my sh1t like a mf; I quit using it after like a few days.

You want to exfoliate your skin but yeah it takes time for your skin to get used to it.

I just switched to this

I just make sure to not get too close of a shave. Meaning never shave under the skin.

Not really. It's the cleaning up afterwards and exfoliating that will help the most. It can be as simple as just a rag and soap for 30 seconds when you shower after the cut.

The foam, five razor blades, after shave, etc don't really help black people. I haven't tried bump stopper, but you can look into that as well. I would try exfoliating before putting all those additional chemicals on me. You washing it off is pretty much the same as cleaning your skin twice a day.

These work for close cuts (Similar to a shave). I was going to recommend the Wahl 5 star shaver to him but I stopped using that joint after the summer I bought it. I get similar results with the Bevel trimmer and the Andis T-Liner with the Pro-mate blades and they are more convenient for me to use.

You have been shaving your face with a T-outliner? That is an edge up clipper.

Get this for your face

If its not a problem you've struggled with, see a dermatologist. It could be infected hair follicles.

If it razor bumps/irritation, invest in a good aftershave. I use "Anthony, Ingrown Hair Treatment." It's a gel that leaves no residue. A lil can cover my entire beard line.

Shine on, brother.

I got you OP. Use this to prevent razor bumps.

An OG barber put me on years ago.

This sh1t is legit and ain’t bottom shelf crap either. There’s a gold cap version if you’re currently struggling with razor bumps.

If you have to shave on regular basis and it doesn’t change your life, I’ll send you the refund my goddamn self.
