![]() Concerns over rising costs and large student loan balances are causing more young adults to reconsider their plans after high school, a separate report by Junior Achievement and Citizens also found.
More than 75% of high schoolers now say that a two-year or technical certification is enough to get a good job “Teens are really starting to question the value of the four-year degree,” said Ed Grocholski, chief marketing officer at Junior Achievement. ![]() |

Good for them that they see through the matrix. I know the best advice I can give to a prospective college student today is that if you don't know what you want to do, don't go. Way better off going to a trade school in a particular field that you actually feel passionate about and graduate in 2-3 years with skills that actually translate into real jobs with a minimal amount of debt. Just my $.02

And why should they? College debt, countless majors that wind up in dead end jobs, and alot of advisors/counselors giving kids bad/irrelevant advice on what to major in. Not to mention, they're 18, having an idea what you want to do rest of your life might even change as you get older. So many variables that ppl in the past simply pushed to the side because you were supposed to and it lead alot of people to lifelong regrets.
So I do not blame them at all...not with how money is these days |

50k in student debt so you can make 48k a year doing basic admin work and d*cking around on excel spreadsheets after working 4 years as a server to help get you through college.
Learn a skill. Market is already saturated with four year degrees, often low earning ones. My homie makes 70k driving for FedEx. He took like 3 community college courses when we were like 18 and just stopped bothering with it Last edited by Dehone; 05-25-2023 at 10:16 PM.. |

This sh*t is simple, either the job pays enough to justify a 4 year degree or I doesn't. If the job pays enough I could justify a 10 year degree. But yes, it's pretty simple to see how a 40k a year job isn't really worth a 4 year degree when you can get that in 2.
Find a job that makes good money and is in need and find the path to it,it's easy. I knew the salary and average signing bonus of the job I was going to school for before even starting. May not have ever finished school but this idea of having buyers remorse is still weird to me. |

Nothing wrong with that as long as you have a plan, I graduated wasn't feeling doing any more school and wanted a change of scenery.
So I joined the military. ![]() Not for everybody, but I just had a plan in mind even before my senior year. (I was in the delayed entry program my junior year) |

Especially here in NYC…. Working on more side gigs Working on more certs (considering UX design) I had a GED b4 college so I got a Masters degree on GP…. But most 4 year degrees is fully paid for without loans if you poor so college for the last 50 years has been a great decision. Let’s see what the future holds…. | |

Everyone situation different I didn't figure out what i wanted to do in college to my sophomore year and still finished in 4 years. Made some great life long connections in school and the debt really ain't bad just paying the minimum. If i didn't go to school I have no idea where i'd be today.
