Real hip-hop fans appreciate you Ja. You both are legends. I think 50 just understood that hip-hop fans are very trendy and fickle... Look at Durk and YoungBoy. There are people I know who used to listen to Durk religiously but stopped listening to him because of the YoungBoy beef. Grown men.

First albums a classic, second one is a huge fall off. And they kept getting worse. 50 came along and kinda said what we were all thinking already. And then he had a classic album, then fell off more and more with each new album just like Ja. | |

Yeah today he would have no affect on Ja career but that era was different in so many ways. So many rappers today would not have a career in that era its not even funny.
But I never stop fu*king with Ja and was calling n*gga corny who was singing his song one year to calling him lame the next because 50 told them to. |

Honestly I don't think fans were as tired of it as NY was. Because X, Styles n nem was throwing shots for him singing before the 50 sh*t. Cats from NY won't say it but of the 3 X, Jay, Ja. Ja was the underdog n*ggas was hating on his run. Especially when he couldn't be compared to X anymore and he was winning.
But he definitely a spearhead in the pivot of hip-hop which was able to be reintroduced the melodic sound in music today for artist like Drake to do what they did. |

I never liked Ja Rule growing up
![]() His voice annoyed me on songs and his image just seemed corny (not that I was any less corny myself as a youngin) always felt like he was trying to be like DMX When 50 came out, not only was it dope to hear someone from my hood make dope music that felt real (first listened to that 50 Cent is the Future Mixtape)...but he was dissing Ja and the whole rap industry.... and the sh*t was hilarious ![]() So for me I never "turned"...I disliked Ja and 50 cent's run just made it easier ![]() Aight I'm out. |

I know people say 50 ended Ja but from a down south point of view(Jacksonville to be specific)he just seemed like he was simmering down plus the whole murder Inc thing I found out about later so 50 just got in at good timing.Like say had this been 2000/01 vs 03/04 50 probably would have gotten "50'd" since Ja had the wave and clout still.
Ja was legit THE MAN when he was so when you have a high bar ofcourse when you don't reach said bar it's gonna look like you fell off. I do feel I need to look into that Clap Back song again, usually when I revisit songs I heard as a kid(in this case like 10 or 11)as an adult I can see why they were hyped(I didn't like the song and doesn't seem like it was well regarded neither but I may see it different now that I know about everything that was going on at the time) |

And what's factual is that Rule's sound aged wayyyy better than Curtis. And yea I say Curtis cuz he not even the real 50 Cent......4 the record
Ain't nobody tryna listen to no Candy Shop, Window Shopper, Just A Lil Bit, If She Was My Best Friend, Ayo Technology in 2023.......all them sh*ts didn't age well 90% of Rule's sound aged nicely. That versus with Fat Joe proved that |
