St. Pete police announced that Taylen Mosley’s body was found in an alligator’s mouth on Friday afternoon.

Police said they spotted an alligator with an object in its mouth. Officers fired a round at the alligator and it dropped the object.

Chief Anthony Holloway said officers were able to retrieve Taylen’s body intact.

“It is with great sadness that Taylen Mosley has been found,” Holloway said.

Taylen’s father is being charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

St. Petersburg Police Chief Anthony Holloway will announce a “significant update” on the disappearance of 2-year-old Taylen Mosley. The chief is expected to speak at 8:15 p.m.

St. Petersburg police said they have deemed Taylen’s father as a person of interest as they continued the search for the toddler Friday.

An Amber Alert was issued for the toddler, who remains missing after his mother was found dead in their St. Petersburg apartment Thursday.

Pashun Jeffrey, 20, was k*lled at Lincoln Shores Apartments, located at 11601 4th Street North, according to St. Pete police.

SPPD Chief Anthony Holloway said a blood trail was seen near Jeffrey’s vehicle.

Taylen’s father — who has not been publicly identified — is a person of interest in his disappearance, but investigators confirmed they spoke to him and he does not have the child.

Holloway said the child’s father showed up at his mother’s home with cuts on his arm at 9 p.m. Wednesday. He admitted himself into a hospital afterward.

“Nothing in our investigation leads us to believe that he is a victim,” Holloway said.

Taylen’s father has refused to speak further with police, according to the chief.

“It’s so important. This child’s life is hanging in the balance here,” St. Pete police spokesperson Yolanda Fernandez said. “We need to know he’s OK. We need to find him.”

In a Friday press conference, Taylen’s family pleaded for the public to help them find him.

“Please help us,” said Lakita Denson, Jeffrey’s mother, as she broke down in tears.

St. Pete Fire Rescue dive teams were called to the area Friday morning to search nearby bodies of water.

Holloway said that if anyone wants to join the search for Taylen, police will accept volunteers at 8 a.m. Saturday.

“24 hours, Taylen has been missing.… We want to find this baby,” Holloway said. “That’s our goal right now. Where is this baby?”

Wednesday, March 29 – 5:30 p.m.

Pashun Jeffrey and Taylen Mosley were last seen, alive, by a family member.

Wednesday, March 29 – 8:30 p.m.

A neighbor told police they heard a “commotion” coming from the apartment at around this time.

Wednesday, March 29 – 9:00 p.m.

Taylen’s father shows up at his mother’s house with cuts on his hands and arms. He went to a hospital afterward.

Thursday, March 30 – 2:30 p.m.

Family members asked apartment staff for a welfare check on Pashun after they failed to get in touch with her. Pashun’s body was discovered alongside “a very violent homicide scene in the apartment,” according to St. Petersburg Police Chief Anthony Holloway.

“It’s all hands on deck right now,” Holloway said during a news conference Thursday. “We’ll call our detectives in, we have our county, state and federal partners that are a*sisting because we want to find Taylen. That’s our main goal right now.”
