![]() ![]() "As of 2023, single women made up 17 percent of all homebuyers. Single men, by contrast, accounted for just 9 percent. (Couples, both married and unmarried, remain the dominant group: buyers in about 70 percent of real estate purchases.)" boxden got a bunch of grown as n*ggas like myself on here. So question for all my fellow single and 25+ n*ggas on here are yall looking to buy a home anytime soon?? Personally i've thought about it. I would love to have my own home. I currently live in an apartment right now and even though im happy with it i still want a decent home. Also during the first few months of the pandemic when we were all stuck at home i was lowkey jealous of the n*ggas that had swiming pool in they backyard. sadly though all the areas i would love to live in are expansive af. ![]() I've considered moving to the Midwest and buying a house there since the homes are relatively inexpensive. However, I am concerned about the possibility of dealing with racist white folks. Plus the weather in some of these states are lowkey a*s. I've only met two single guys around my age(25) that actually own a home. One of them just got tired of renting a crib and the other bought one cause in the future he would want his future wife(he aint dating anyone yet) and kids to live in his crib since home prices could be a lot more expensive in the future. both of them live in the midwest so thats honestly the main reason i even considered buying a crib there. |

Id rather own some a*sets before getting married. A prenup could help me protect the stuff I owned before getting married. Anyways I'm more interested in why single men aren't as interested in becoming home owners.

I would need to be convinced into buying a home. Like pros vs cons. What's the point of it?I pay like quadruple to a bank for this house hoping my kids own something. So hopefully in the future they don't get robbed for the true value of the home. Payments never stop regardless if you own or rent. If you buying to rent it out then to me your buying property not buying a "home."

After doing a lot of research I decided that I want to buy a condo instead of a house and work on a house afterwards. At least if I own the condo I can rent it out maybe a duplex or something with multiple units to rent out. If you go straight for a house you really just finding somewhere to stay live and grow. I want to make some money and knowing that there are a lot of people that don't want to own I'll be the owner and they can pay my mortgage

if i were living alone, i wouldn't want a whole house. so unnecessary unless you looking at it as an investment - and even then, i'd be skeptical to think you wouldn't save more in some apartment and just putting the bookoo money you saving into a high-yield savings account or something else.
taking care of the yard, appliances, upkeep by yourself...and you cant flip it for 3 years at least without getting taxed out the a*s? no thanks. i'll take the stress free life. buying an apartment might be a better move, but still, would have to look at the math. |

Also, a*sets acquired prior to marriage are not subject to any community property rules of needing to be split after divorce thus a prenup is not necessary for that specific need. However a prenup is useful for sorting out a*sets acquired during the marriage.

All other discussions on what other men are NOT doing is sort of pointless. Don't waste time trying to learn about men not doing anything. Talk with and about those that are buying and how they are able to do it. Last edited by whatevaitakes; 03-23-2023 at 08:15 AM..

I'm meditating and working towards a home myself and have saved up a lot towards it. All you need in NY is 3.4 for an FHA loan, and that may be the way I have to go, because I make too much for the NACA loan, which is really good for first time homebuyers (I'm still gonna try anyway)
I gave up pr0n and I deleted my Twitter and IG from my phone and I'm about to just focus on what is important. This may be unrelated but if you focus all your energy and meditate while working on it, you will have whatever you see. |

For example, I moved to the DMV in my mid 20s. Was looking to get a cheap apartment, but decent places in decent areas were crazy expensive. Ended up buying a small townhouse style condo in a nice area where my mortgage + hoa fee is less than apartment rent in the area. Over the years was able to itemize on taxes and fast forward some 10 years the place has doubled in value. I pulled a chunk of equity out, refinanced for a lower interest rate and my monthly payment only slightly went up. When I choose to move I can sell the place and pocket the money or rent it out, make money each month and let the equity build again. For some people and their lifestyle renting does make sense, but for others buying something is better. It just depends on the numbers and what you want to do.

Owning property is one of the keys to generational wealth. Don’t let them take from you guys. Stack, buy, invest in another one.
You can’t refinance an apartment You can take equity out of an apartment in case of an emergency You get no tax deductions for owning an apartment Unless you have a rent controlled apartment they can raise the rent up continuously You can’t pass an apartment down to your kids You can’t sell an apartment and collect any money I guess you can sublease an apartment but l you can definitely always rent your house/property Small flex I paid trump like taxes because of my rental property…looking to buy another right now Owning a home…strictly for live men, not for freshman…cause even when industries fade, everyone needs a place to live |

Was talking to a coworker about this recently.
He a farm boy so he got like a 750 mortgage in the boonies somewhere. I wouldn't mind getting a deal in a remote place. Just gotta worry about predatory markets, racist and protecting it from animals and randos. I ain't about to press the issue and get in a bad deal though so I'll wait for a good opportunity. Patience is key. |
