Mar 19 - More Than Half of Young Adults Are Now Living With Parents
In the US, according to the Pew Research Center, 52% of people 18-29 years old already live with their parents. This is a record for the entire history of observations - even during the Great Depression and World War II, the proportion of such people did not exceed 48%. The lowest percentage of people living with their parents was recorded in America in the prosperous 60s - 29%. Since then, the proportion of those who are in no hurry to live separately has only grown.
Experts believe that this phenomenon could have long-term consequences not only for the mentality and culture of family relations in America but also for its economy. Thus, even before the crisis, the growth in the number of new households lagged behind population growth, which threatens to reduce the market for household goods, as well as the market for the sale and rental of housing. ![]() |

This has been an ongoing issue for over a decade. For it to continue to get worse just means Americans are doing an even more sh*t job raising children. We can't pretend that responsible people with careers who simply want to save on housing costs make up the majority of these adults stuck at home with mommy. | |

And then they wonder why birth rate going down
We as a culture have never normalized living with parents (some cultures it's expected) so anyone doing this is looked at as undateable. And for good reason, who wants to smash with the parents in the next bedroom? Basically means anyone in this category is gonna have a hard af time of it in the dating pool even if they'd otherwise be seen as attractive / eligible Also the narrative "lets only have kids once we're ready to pay for their school etc" which this cohort won't hit for a long af time |

Too many people in this country and not enough affordable cribs.
Luckily we have smart people that voted for a president that will limit the amount of immigrants coming in so that young single Americans don’t have to compete with people that split rent 5 different ways for a 1 bedroom and have no problem paying these Jews their inflated prices if it means not going back to their country.… Oh wait. |
