If I don't have 300 bucks for a steam deck, 30 bucks off isnt gonna make much of a difference lol.

i'll tell you my HONEST HONEST HONEST Opinion....

FOR ME? Its absolutely worth it.. Don't go in thinking its the best & over the top handheld console in the world but its def the Best out right now. This joint does the job for me whenever im on the go & traveling. Especially playing Emulators on the handheld is what i mainly use it for and its absolutely bonkers ! I say its def worth it. (Yes i do play AAA Games on it too as well). I even got a Portable Monitor For it as well whenever ima jump into Mouse & Keyboard Mode.. I Use it whenever im not gaming on my PC

Hope these 2 vids can help. Cheers

Steamdeck took over my complete gaming experience. I can play allmost my complete Library that i bought throughout the years. Games like Settlers, age of Empires, Farthest Frontier, GTA IV and V, Green Hell and so forth.
Next to that i have Emulation Station and that give me access to all the emulators from Atari to Nintendo Switch and i mean all emulators.
Allmost for every thing outside your Steam Library will be some kind of hassle to get it working but once things set up the right way you rarely run into problems. You have to be some kind of tech savy tho if you ask me.

I really love the Steamdeck as a device

I love mine. I can play my Xbox, PS5, Steam, and emulated games all in one.

I think what you have to consider is use. My main gaming time is during my morning commute to work on the train, so I get a solid 1-2 hours of use out of it everyday. Sometimes it’s nice when I’m sitting in my living room or bed and can just fire up any of my games. Is it as visually stunning as traditional consoles? No, but it’s blow the switch away in terms of graphics and it’s capability. Some people complain about the battery life, but I don’t ever run into an empty battery issue. It depends on what you are playing. If I’m playing Persona 5 on max settings I can get 4-5 hours of gaming, but if I play Elden Ring on it, I’ll get about 2.5 hours.

You can tinker with the settings to get more battery life with any game.

How's it work for PS5? I was thinking of buying the Backbone to hook up to my phone but am hesitating. It'd likely be a thing I fu*k with on weekends and evenings since my console is in the living room, and my TV is basically a YouTube Kids channel all day with my children lol.

Still dont see the use of a steam deck when i have
-modded switch with all games
-oled switch with +30 games
modded ps vita with the entire retro emulation minus n64, gc titles and almost all good ps vita titles
new 3ds xl with +25 games

i guess its just the appeal of playing AAA titles portably.
i have a decent digital pc library as well somewhere in the 100's. the thought of playing something like arkham knight portably is exicting. it dying in 2 hours of using it is not. plus im just not in places where portable gaming happens for me as much. portable gaming gets play when my kids have occupied everything else, im taking a sh*t, im on a plane, or somewhere boring where i have to wait around. its probably why i still havent beaten super mario ds yet

Before my wife and I got married and had kids, there was so much peace in just chilling together but not being hooked into one another. You're in a good spot when you can be on the couch gaming, and she can be on the side reading or browsing on her phone/laptop/whatever—and neither one of you feel neglected or strong-armed into living the other's life.

Real fu*king talk, and a hard truth most people won't speak out loud. Wouldn't give my kids up for sh*t and will do anything for them, always, but maaaan I miss the freedom to just be a lazy fu*k on weekends. Not to mention the quiet lol.

They're still young, though, so I tell myself I'm gonna be really sad when they're teenagers and don't even wanna be in the same room with me. The bigger picture makes sense, but it's difficult AF with life just happening around us every day.

Can someone explain how steam deck works exactly?
Is it like a laptop? Can you upgrade the space or play games from a flash drive?

This is my dilemma too. For emulators and old games, I have:

Modded Switch
Modded Vita
Modded New 3DS XL
Modded Psp
GBA, Gbc, and couple DMG
Retroid Pocket 3+

All these sh*ts is packed with more games than I could ever play. So if I got a Steam deck, I would probably just get it to add to my handheld collection. Still on the fence about it...

The difference tho is you could take all of the libraries you have and add them to the steamdeck. It’s an all in one.

This is the best device I have ever owned. I just put ps1, ps2, and Dreamcast on it and the games run smooth.
