I will never be interested in a vehicle that can be hacked & remotely controlled, i.e. all electric cars.

Im looking into buying the New 2023 BMW iX xDrive50 or the Porsche Taycan and as a newbie to electric this has always been a fear of mine.

the right range and the ease of charging when on the road.

If charging on the go is important, Tesla is the only option TBH. The only way you should buy any other EV is if you can install a charger at your home.

Tesla has a lot of problems, but their charging network is the best in the business by far.

You know gas cars are also becoming self driving and have been hackable? Fuel type ain’t gonna save us.

Actually this is true for almost all modern cars even the gas ones. THey are computers more than they are cars.

I plan on installing a 220 volt in my home garage for charging overnight. I might just use the vehicle for business only and get a gas car for longer trips. I'm in Atlanta so there are plenty of chargers (Tesla and Non-Tesla) around the city.

Props bro.

Those non-Tesla chargers are VERY misleading. They aren’t managed well so you could get to a charging station with less than 10% battery left, only to find out that all the chargers at the station are broken

This is where Tesla wins again. If you are stranded, you can request emergency charging right from their phone app.

If you get a charger installed at home you should be good tho. At that point you can pretty much ignore ChargePoint because they are fu*kin terrible.

I've heard about Electrify America charging stations too. How good are they?

I'd personally have an electric just to commute to work and ride around town. Then plug in at night.

But for a long road trip, fukk that! Gas all day

Charging was the number one reason i got rid of my Tesla. Even if you can charge at home, it's just far too inconvenient and impractical if you drive a lot. If they can double the range of these cars it might be worth it but constantly living on 100-200 miles of range just doesn't cut it. And that's WITH the Tesla charging network which is by far the best and most robust, i can only imagine what it's like for other brands. Plus the "savings" aren't really saving anything because of how expensive they are to insure. (My insurance dropped $250 a month going from Tesla to Mercedes)

On top of that if one little thing goes wrong (which it inevitably does) you can only take it to Tesla and likely be without a car for weeks/months. No thanks

They just don’t have enough stations yet IMO. At least not out here by me in California.

Im California, with a Tesla you can legit survive 100% without a home charger. With any other EV, a home charger is mandatory

Also if you're looking at buying brand new, leasing might be a better option TBH.

EVs are more like computers and phones than traditional cars. Battery degradation and planned obsolesce is a major concern with EVs, but not really a big deal with ICE cars.

I honestly think owning an EV long-term is pointless with how fast things change in tech. It's best to just lease one for a few years and give that sh*t back to avoid dealing with replacing batteries

Depends on where u live. I work 10 minutes from Burbank and there's about 10 hyper chargers there. Went from 10% to 66% in 24 minutes this morning. I hate those fu*kers who sit in they car for HOURS to fill up.

I used to live in my girl's pad in Montebello, there's 4 stations 3 min away from her. So I was good whether at home or work.

We moved to Duarte and there's 8 EA chargers in the Santa Anita mall. This one's terrible and full of Asians who sit there and watch whole tv shows (yea it's racist, sorry but it's the truf!) and half are broken.

Download the EA app to see how many are around u.

Also, download PlugShare app. They have ALL charging stations wit frequent update in their status. This is wat I use to plan long trips (been to San Diego and Vegas). Hope this helps.

Inevitable would love to be an early adopter on this like w hybrids just waiting until competition brings the price down and toyota or lexus has comparable range and yeah maybe sort out all the charging station issues and rogue drive train malfunctions, then we're talking
