1. They have to put money down to crash test their vehicles to US standards.
2. They have to put money down to set up dealerships and service shops in the US. 3. They have to put money down to start a whole marketing campaign. 4. They are competing against domestic and Japanese pick-up trucks. Kind of like Fiat, they used to sell cars in the US. They left the US market after they got squeezed out by the Japanese and also for selling crappy cars. Fiat made a comeback. The exterior and interior styling are nice. I like Peugeot sedans. They could make an effort to sell sedans and hatchbacks because some manufacturers have dropped sedans and hatchbacks in their lineup, like Ford and Buick. |

A lot of damn vehicles are manufactured in Mexico. Toyotas, Fords, Lincolns, Kias, Fiats, Dodges, GMs, Chevrolets, Volkswagens, BMWs, Audis, Infinitis. And I just read the Landtreck is a rebranded Chinese pickup by Peugeot, which is a French company, but its manufactured in Mexico.
..sh*t is getting even crazier out there. Mexico is one of the largest markets for pickups though, and ofcourse there is the cheap labor train. |
