Fans react to Panthers great Cam Newton being excluded from NFLs tribute to Black QBs
Next Sunday will mark the first Super Bowl in NFL history that is headlined by two Black quarterbacks—Philadelphia’s Jalen Hurts and Kansas City’s Patrick Mahomes. And to highlight that momentous milestone, the league’s official social media accounts posted the following graphic on Friday night:
(You probably know where we—here at Panthers Wire—are going with this, don’t you?) While touching, notably absent from the tribute is Cam Newton—one of the most influential quarterbacks in the history of the game. Heck, Hurts himself—in addition to the numerous comparisons from his sparkling 2022 campaign—credits Newton as one of his inspirations. So, naturally, the cavalry came stampeding in and flooded the replies with disbelief. Here are just some of the boldest, funniest and spirited reactions to Newton’s exclusion.

One of the most disrespected QBs in NFL history . His own damn team wouldn’t get him weapons nor an offensive line . Not to mention the refs letting d line men take target practice on his head during the cte safety era

No doubt should’ve had Newton on there. He’s just as disrespected as Lamar Jackson. Both MVP and Heisman trophy winners. Also should have had Doug Williams on there in a Washington uniform. He was the first Black QB to win a Super Bowl. Even in a tribute they disrespect us.
