That sh*t was fu*king horrible bruh lmao there ain’t no way around it and the more I sit and stew on it the more it’s confirmed.
First and foremost, the gay sh*t was the least of my complaints. Yes in this case it was extremely forced to feed the agenda, and I normally hate when people cry “Agenda”. But there was jus absolutely no other need or place for it here. Why is a gay s*x scene being thrown into a zombie apocalypse show, including a long a*s drawn out pillow talk conversation about how it’s his first time and sh*t? It was so forced and out of context and I’m a mf that likes sh*t like Euphoria and Shameless, which by volume alone, contain more gay content, but at least in those shows, they fit and don’t feel jammed in and forced. But it is what it is, jus unnecessary.
But where my main complaint comes in is that Bill could have been straight and this could have been about him and his WIFE, and I would still feel the exact same because this entire episode from top to bottom was a gigantic waste of time. In the games, Bill’s partner was only ever hinted at, but for all intents and purposes, it was a nameless, faceless nonexistent nobody. You were never given a face or name, jus was insinuated that he had a partner that died in the past and was most likely gay. So now you bring in that nonexistent nobody and give them an identity, but beyond that, you give them an entire overextended 90 minute long MOVIE LENGTH episode like we supposed to give a sh*t. And then k*ll him off jus as soon as you introduced him as if it was sposed to carry any weight or impact. As somebody above me jus said, you spent an entire episode on irrelevant side characters that we will literally never see again except maybe a flashback scene or 2. This entire sh*t could have been relegated to 20-30 minutes of the episode, gay sh*t included, fu*k it, without doing entirely too much like they did. Man I barely gave a fu*k about or remembered Bill as it is because he was not prominent enough in the games or around long enough to really matter, and now you bring in his no-name partner too as if anybody is sposed to magically give a fu*k? Like I said the gay sh*t is irrelevant because even if this was bout his female wife, I do not give a fu*k that that mf died. I deadass can not even remember dude’s name and I ain’t even being funny wit that statement.
They did something like this to try and differentiate the show from the game and offer something that the game didn’t, but this was the entirely wrong way to do it. You wanna give some background and side story that the game didn’t? Why not further explore Joel and Tess’s relationship then if we’re gonna do a lovey dovey tragic romance episode/story? A relationship of a main character that the audience actually cares about, which would simultaneously give more weight to her death. Not about a character that for all intents and purposes, did not even exist in the game prior to this.
This type of filler a*s bullsh*t is something that a show that’s 10 years and 12 seasons in that shoulda called it quits a hot minute ago does to desperately milk whatever content they still can out of the show, not a brand new one that’s only on it’s 3rd episode.
I started out watching this wit full attention, but had sh*t to still do so I relegated it to a background watch while I was cleaning my aquarium, and that sh*t STILL bored me to fu*king death smh. An all time horrible episode that already sh*tstained the series only 3 episodes in.
