Sony Group Corp. reduced projections for the initial launch of its PlayStation VR2 headset dramatically after early pre-orders disappointed, signaling little improvement for the hyped-but-unproven virtual reality sector. The company halved its forecast for shipments of the PSVR2, which is set for a Feb. 22 release, this quarter to about a million units, said people familiar with its deliberations. Sony had previously aimed to have 2 million headsets ready for the launch quarter and leverage its second-generation headset to drive user growth and adoption for VR.

Yeah I'm sure the combination of price/being tethered, and nothing really amazing announced yet aren't helping. If it ever gets untethered and / or a price to around $250 I'll be more interested. I can wait

Is there any VR games that are must plays ? Besides Half Life Alyx of course. I think that's all that would be considered a great game and was originally made for VR

Alyx is above and beyond the rest but

Into the Radius
Zenith

are all good-very good made for VR games with some AAA quality to them that most wouldn't look out of place in a collection of pancake AAA games.

That's not including games designed for VR and more exercise oriented like Beat Saber, Pistol Whip, Thrill of the f*ght, Eleven Table Tennis, In death: Unchained.

And while not something that is ever going to happen with PSVR but mods for pancake games are some of the best VR experiences around, Resident Evil 2 and Village, Half-Life 2, Alien Isolation, Firewatch, Outer Wilds.

sh*t is priced too high for the average consumer... I'm not interested in VR, but if I decided that I wouldn't mind trying it out the price point would keep me from doing so.

I loved RE7 on VR. Playing it flat feels boring to me. Hitman is decent too, they just need to release a control scheme that actually uses VR controllers and not a regular one

I honestly think this is the problem. Sometimes you gotta eat some of the costs to get people to adopt new tech

600 when a lot of Americans ain't got that much money set aside for an emergency ain't gonna cut it

I’m not buying one just off the fact of how they supported the last one. I got all these games that I was willing to play but I didn’t because the first one had so many damn wires and then didn’t work with my HDR television.

Every reviewer video i've seen has said nothing less than this is the new standard in VR. Over 35 games at launch, several AAA titles. I'm looking forward to a very bright future for PSVR2 personally.

Is it a big ask for people to spend as much as the console for VR? Of course. Will it be worth it? Every professional reviewer seems to think so. VR isn't something you can really "get" the quality of until you actually put it on. I'm not surprised pre-orders may be lower than expected, but I expect when these embargos get lifted, first movers let their friends try it, and the internet can collectively share what it's like, it's going to explode.
