Jan 29 - Tesla ‘spontaneously’ catches fire on California freeway
Tesla ‘spontaneously’ catches fire on California freeway, officials say
A Tesla Model S "spontaneously" burst into flames Saturday afternoon in California while driving on a freeway, officials said. The Tesla’s battery compartment caught fire just before 4 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of Highway 50 near Sacramento, Metro Fire of Sacramento said. Fire officials said the vehicle was traveling "freeway speeds" when the sudden combustion occurred and that "nothing unusual" happened prior to the fire. The Tesla was fully engulfed in flames when firef*ghters arrived at the scene, according to the department. Firef*ghters used about 6,000 gallons of water to extinguish the flames as the Tesla's battery cells continued to combust. Crews also used jacks to lift the vehicle, so they could access its underside to extinguish and cool the battery. ![]() |

Extinguishing Tire Fires Waste tires are difficult to ignite, but once a tire fire starts, it is generally very hard to control and extinguish. Using water and/or foam to extinguish a tire fire is often futile. Water is best used to keep adjacent, unburned tires from igniting. Smothering a tire fire with dirt or sand is usually the best option for extinguishing fires. Typically, the sand or dirt is moved with heavy equipment to cover the burning tires. https://archive.epa.gov/epawaste/conserve/materials/tires/web/html/fires.html Alot of stuff water can’t really deal with in modern society. That’s why city code inspectors be trippin on ppl who have piles of tires and junk on they property especially if it’s within city limits.

& truth be told I haven’t seen in the news any new vehicle gmc, ford, Dodge setting on fire consistently. No hellcats, no Escalades, no rams, no f-series…just teslas & no I’m not a electric hater, I need range & tow to get out to my property so diesel is my only option.

Even the other electric cars aren’t having that problem, Porsche/Rivian/Hummer etc, it’s only Tesla so are people really hating or noticing a real problem. & no I don’t hate electric cars so don’t try that, I have no use for them since my properties are in the middle of no where & I have to tow a toy hauler.
