Well back then everything was very segregated. Even though it wasnt a rule. If u have ever seen Sugar Hill Pleasant Ave in Harlem was actually Italian. Canarsie Brooklyn was all Italian. The Young Lords were very real. There were no gangs in NYC. Only Crews. Could be a block deep or a whole neighborhood. I wouldnt say shut down anything but when Black veterans would come back from Nam if they were lucky just like the photos they had guns observing the cops and making sure they didnt od. Then they passed that legislation where they labeled all minority groups as threats and raided them.

Just my opinion… but the military is not the real world. You saying that it’s not about race but about how they preform… that doesn’t work in the real world. The people who got the ability to “preform” are the ones with the advantages or the privileges. Traditionally , that’s white people.

We need to strengthen our weakest links to have a stronger society.
