Interested to see what the boxden basketball experts think of this play. In my mind the answer is simple but let’s just see what y’all think. In case y’all missed the answer:

If he kept his pivot foot down..I'd allow it..but I can see why "it depends"
Is it any different than |

Clearly a travel. Dudes do this all the time at every level of ball and regularly get away with it.
He switched pivot feet before jumping to shoot. If he jumped off of both feet after that last step through he’d be straight. Something that never gets called that definitely needs to get called is the travel on spin moves. That sh*t is a huge advantage momentum wise and puts the defender in a foul or give up a layup situation. Players like Wade and LeBron hop toward the basket on the pivot foot during the spin. It’s almost impossible to defend that because it gives them so much momentum plus they’re spinning so you really can’t square up to take a charge. lebron does it every time he spins. No, at least by NBA rules. Since he raised his pivot foot, he shot the ball before his pivot foot touched the floor again.
“If a player, with the ball in his possession, raises his pivot foot off the floor, he must pass or shoot before his pivot foot returns to the floor. If he drops the ball while in the air, he may not be the first to touch the ball.” |

Hence why moves like the Sombor Shuffle is legal. Notice how Jokic establishes his pivot (left foot in this video), picks up his pivot, THEN shoots the ball. | |
