It looks like VGC sadly won't be publishing a Forspoken review on Monday, since Square Enix has decided not to supply us with code. That's an extremely rare occurrence for us, so read into it how you like.

After playing the demo my expectation is around 7/10. Movement is cool but the mechanics are awkward and the dialogue was atrocious.

Yeah I have a feeling it's going to be some "if this is your favorite type of game, you'll like it, if you're not particularly fond of these types of games, it'll be an easy pass"

Based on the demo, I'm guessing mid to high 70's, maybe low 80's depending on how those boss f*ghts go. They didn't look too bad in the hour of gameplay we got the other day.



I'm a fan of ARPGs and Square Enix, so I'll give it a shot.

Then I'll just lurk for a few weeks until bx freaks out about it not getting 10's across the board.

Dialogue was my biggest gripe. But yeah, I'm sick of lazy character writing, especially with female leads.

Controls I could get used to, but you shouldn't have to. It's like the intentionally made them "different" as if it adds to the experience.

I’m thinking mid to high 70s too, I’ll prolly end up picking it up in a few months on a sale, seems like a decent game.

Greatness of the way

Square Enix has been putting out buggy, poorly written, and optimized trash for over a decade now but unfortunately, fans and square themselves will blame its failure on the game having a black woman as a lead

He said the framerate drops real bad and the dynamic resolution is still a problem + it resembles a PS4 game at times. He also said only buy it if you like open world games and absolutely need something to play, otherwise wait for a sale. Not really shilling for it lol

He more than likely also doesn't have a day one patch at this point so who knows how much that can help, but if the performance mode drops to the teens like it was on the demo as far as framerate goes I know ill play it on PC.
