I've been into sneakers for the past 40 years. The first Air Jordan drop back in '85 was something never seen before. That was the first time I ever saw someone pay over $65 for a pair of shoes.
However, there were no immediate sell out of the shoe, and you could walk into a store after weeks or months to find the shoe still available or on sale.
It does seem like resellers are only selling to other resellers. I watch vids every now and then and it seems like they all know each other, and the shoes are just circulating amongst themselves.
We have a couple of resell sneaker spots here. What's crazy is that I think they are selling high quality reps. They have full size runs of very limited sh*t. Both stores have a pair of Air Jordan 1 Dior's in a case.
I actually have them, and I wore them to the store in the mall. The workers were all staring at my sh*t and looking at the shoe they had in the case.
It was funny because they'd look at me and I'd look at them and they'd turn away. The manager came out and dapped me up and said that he liked the shoes.
He had that nervous type of energy that you see when someone believes that they're about to be called out on something. He asked where I got my shoes, and I told him Selfridges. It's a spot in London so he was unfamiliar with it.
He said, "Cool man!" I told him he had a nice selection and I dipped after. Wasn't any need for me to call anybody out. I don't care really. However, given his reaction I knew that he was selling high quality UA's.
It was what it was though. People should spend their money how they want.
