not gonna lie, 0 to 60 in 2.5 seconds is pretty amazing

you get the best of both worlds with that hybrid-ish solution

I watched Carlos Lago's Car and Driver review last night. They are taking it to VR for testing. GM may have a slight problem if it consistently laps faster than a Z06. Keep in mind it has standard Carbon Ceramic brakes and carbon fiber wheels. The only caveat is that it has Michellin all season tires. I wonder if they will test it with Sport Cup 2s for sh*ts and giggles. It's AWD may have it exiting corners quicker with minimal understeering. But on paper this thing may be the top dog track Vette as well as the top road Vette. We shall see!!!

It will most likely be slower for a number of reasons. One, the added weight over a Z06. Two, because of the atteries and electric motor the spring rates will most likely favor a softer setting hurting lap times. Three, the electric motor probably has a cutoff of around 110-140 mph which means you're only left with 495 bhp. Tracks that favor high speed like the Nurburgring Nordschleife and Virginia International Raceway would favor the Z06.

It's not really a hybrid.. It's a ICE car with electric launch.

It can only drive 3 miles on battery only lol..

So you're right.. You get the instant torque of an electric but none of the downsides of being battery only

Cuts off at 150 but replenishes super fast...which Carlos said he specifically will test at VIR. This is going to be interesting for sure.

That’s a comical oversimplification of what the electric motor does for this car.

The electric motor is used for far more than an “electric launch”. It works in tandem with the ICE motor to provide full time AWD, as well as torque vectoring. Those features completely change the character and capabilities of the car and is the first step to full electrification of the corvette.

GM literally stated the EZ06 is “turnkey hybridization”.

The purpose of pretty much every other hybrid is fuel efficiency. The point of this hybrid is driving performance.

That’s my point, it’s for sure a complex and revolutionary system tho. So I won’t argue with you on that

You were arguing that it wasn’t a hybrid because you thought hybrid systems were meant primarily for fuel efficiency. This is further evidenced by you severely undermining the electric motor by claiming it’s just for performance and only used for launching.

The point of this hybrid system is both fuel efficiency and performance. This is quite literally GM dipping their toes in the water before the all electric model is released.

Performance is not what’s driving (no pun intended) all new cars to be electrified in the very near future. Mandatory electrification is due stricter emissions. Performance is just a positive byproduct. GM is making the best of a situation they certainly wouldn’t be exploring had they not been forced to.

How many other hybrids have a 3 mile electric only range and no improvements on mpg?

Wtf is your point? That doesn’t make the car any less of a hybrid. It is, by definition and by proclamation of GM, a hybrid car. Period. Not only that, it’s a traditional hybrid, not a plug in, so electric only range isn’t supposed to be the main goal of this vehicle.

You’re acting as if there’s some unspoken prerequisite that a car HAS to reach a certain mpg or have a certain amount of electric range to be a hybrid. That’s OBVIOUSLY not the case.

As for mpg, the car hasn’t even been EPA rated yet but I guess you’ve got the inside scoop over them..

GM merely has to meet or exceed the mpgs of its ICE counterparts because its performance over them is going to trump anything else.

You know, you could always just actually read from the source and educate yourself instead of continuing to demonstrate your ignorance on anything related to this car. Just a thought.

I made my point. This is a hybrid that focuses ONLY on performance which isn't normal even among sports car hybrids. I gave one example of this, and you said it does more than the one example and I said you're right. That doesn't change my point.

If you're still confused I can't help you. Be blessed.
