16 Years Ago Today, Steve Jobs Introduced The IPhone!

It was 16 years ago today that Steve Jobs took to the stage at the MacWorld Expo and introduced the device that would change the way we live. By eliminating the physical keyboard and replacing it with a touchscreen, Apple re-invented what we consider a phone in the 21st century. When the iPhone launched six months later, it quickly became Apple’s most successful product

Crazy...

When these first came out, you couldn't even do much on it, let alone record video (if only that was applicable now these days for the clout chasers) but I always saw the potential.

And it was very user-friendly.

Once jailbreak software came out, that was a big game changer but imo these phones sucked after Jobs died.

No hate to those in here flaggin' #AppleGang but I swear I never looked back after going Galaxy lol.

I know the android n*ggas will slap this, but Steve Jobs made smart phones into mass consumer devices. The apple App Store made n*ggas have computers in they pocket once developers saw the potential. Because prior to 2007 you needed a pocket PC to do sh*t on the go and windows apps were a*s. Slow and clunky. Androids only claim to fame was that apple made the mistake of making it exclusive to high a*s att at the time. Android was able to gain market share by marketing it as an alternative as most n*ggas wasn't going to trick off $600 for a phone and high a*s cell phone service. Sprint and T-Mobile pushed android heavy because they didn't have the iPhone for years. If it wasn't for that android has a longer cycle to pass the iPhone let alone even catch up.

Hard to say these n*ggas stopped innovating when it's a phone at the end of the day. What more do you n*ggas want your phone to do?? Between 5g and the litany of apps, phone ain't doing much more unless you n*ggas want to teleport.

They stole everything on the first iphone.. App store came from sidekick..

They just knew capacitive touch screens were coming at the perfect time..

The LG Prada had the icon based interface first. And Windows Mobile phones could actually do things. The first iphone couldn't.

Apple won for one reason, and one reason only..

They were the first company to marry modern hardware and software under the same roof.

With the ancient Windows Mobile there wasn't a need for it and with Modern Android phones agile development and super powerful components make that advantage negligible.

But there was a window of time.. prolly about 5-7 years where doing in house software and hardware provided a huge benefit. Better performance, faster updates, and a better UI/ UX..

That window is closed now, but Apple has the marketshare. That's why they keep users by keeping iMessages, facetime, and airdrop closed off.

I had a sidekick so that's true. I ain't say they invented the App Store. But let's be real, them sidekick apps weren't bringing developers and a desktop like experience to the mobile phone. Not even close. They blended a lot of existing tech and put it all in one package, but it consolidated all the existing tech into the modern smartphone. iPhone ain't flawless, I would actually go back to a sidekick, but n*ggas act like apple didn't pioneer the modern smartphone era. Whether they invented the sh*t or not.

I just gave them credit. But they can't get all of it tho. That's all I'm saying.

Apple didn't invent the device. Apple merely branded a device that already existed and went through consumer testing.

Steve Jobs or Apple "inventing" the iphone is a myth.

If I’m not mistaken. That is precisely how patents work.
