Microsoft (MSFT) looks very interesting for 2023
- Microsoft invested a billion in OpenAI, company behind ChatGPT
- ChatGPT runs on Microsoft Azure architecture (instead of Amazon AWS, the usual go to), costing OpenAI $3m/day to run - Microsoft will probably announce a new search product using ChatGPT that will compete directly with Google, putting them back in the search game in a big way. - This puts Google under a lot of pressure. If we don’t need to search via scrolling through links anymore, they can’t sell ads. The whole model dies. - Since it’s all speculation so far and the whole market is fu*ked and it’s the holidays, sh*ts still calm. This is not financial advice. I’m just sharing some thoughts. The bottom could still fall out in q1/q2 and everything goes to complete sh*t tho. I’m honestly confused around how deep into recession we are (are we entering 1, exiting 1?) because the markets are being manipulated and we’re printing so much $ that nothing is real anymore. |

They are working on ai that is supposed to give physician level medical advice that’s probably gonna be crazy…. but I’m talking about regular old search, their bread and butter. And even if google has something to compete there, it will require them to revamp their entire strategy & biz model. Google makes money showing ads while people click links trying to find the answers. With AI, theres no more links to click cuz the answer is given to you. Game changer.

the pixel devices are insanely smart, especially when you talk to google a*sistant and they are always improving they are leading in AI art, super computers, etc Microsoft is a beast too and competition is the best, so I look forward to see what these big tech companies actually do to improve stuff I just can't see Bing overtaking google, right now, even if that ChatAI they own is pretty dope

![]() Google's search algorithm is legendary. ChatGP is cool but you're overestimating it's importance. Google has absolutely nothing to worry about.

ChatGPT is basically the announcement that the future of search doesn’t depend on your searches anymore because a chat bot that you’re having a conversation with is gonna be delivering better results in real-time. Google is terrified. Last edited by shooter; 12-30-2022 at 10:34 PM..

GPT isn’t a search engine but will replace the search engine and my guess is that Microsoft will be the company to showcase that, given their strategic relationship w/ OpenAI

![]() You are giving ChatGPT entirely too much credit. You're buying into the early hype. Trust me when I tell you Google has nothing to worry about. If Google has a downfall, it WILL NOT be from fu*king ChatGPT.

I wouldn't be worries Google search will suffer in the long run, don't forget they own AI software subsidiary DeepMind, which is one of the best leading AI. Given the massive Youtube and Google search data collected daily, MS Bing with OpenAI ChatGPT will likely not overtake it anytime soon.

Google has become a verb for a reason.
1 billion isn't much. Maybe less than 1% of what they have as far as cash and the harvest and losses. Microsoft keeps phenomenal books. Their low debt and software (moat) are cool, but Google has already gained ground in their world because of accessibility. Most schools in my state use Google Classroom. Sheets and Docs k*lling Microsoft sh*t. And Google is still a verb. Also the have 100% of what we Google. You would also have to remove chrome because people will only Google on that. I'd never use Edge in general. With that said.... Buy ETFs. They prob are about 3% to 5% Microsoft anyways and you won't have to think. |

Microsoft placed a big bet on this shift in 2019 or so. We’re just starting seeing it play out now. It just seems new to you because you’re just hearing about it. I said nothing about googles downfall btw. I said this may be time to load up on Microsoft stock before the hype starts to lift it. I said Google is under pressure. That’s common knowledge now. My point is - Google is forced to change their entire business to compete in this space and that’s very, very hard for a huge corporation to do with the speed necessary to compete. it’s like a ice cream earring competition where 1 of the contestants is lactose intolerant. Even if they win, they kinda lose. Which gets back to my original point,.. Last edited by shooter; 12-31-2022 at 04:47 AM..

However… The way google makes most of its $ is about to become irrelevant (or at least be challenged) and we’ve never seen them respond to a threat like this while they’ve been this big. Old google could spin the block quick, buy a smaller company and clapback at the drop of a dime. OR they’d just buy the encroaching competition, poach the top talent and shelf the product. A few of my favorite products met that fate. This is a different type f*ght against another giant, threatening their bread and butter ad business, forcing them to move like a startup… while employing 100k+ people. Microsoft is a crocodile luring a strong young lion into the water. Last edited by shooter; 12-31-2022 at 05:51 AM..

Having your company name used as a verb is great but it’s not some magical permanent invincibility. And the thread isn’t about google being fine or not. It’s about Microsoft.
