'Second option' is usually used as a slight against a player, to say they can't be a first option.

So, it'd be interesting to see people's opinions on what a real second option is.

I think team chemistry is more important than perceived order of importance. The Mavs and Pistons championship teams didn't have a clear number 2 option. Ray Allen, Robert Horry, Iggy, Wiggins, etc weren't the second best players on their championship teams but still played huge roles in their team's success.

I wouldn't worry about shxt like this when historically your 8 man rotation is way more important than who your number 2 option is on offense. There's more to the game than that.

wiggins was the perfect 2nd best player on the team last year. CP3 the year the suns made the championship. Khris Middleton is another perfect example of a 2nd best player on a team.

The point is your number one has to be really good. In the league today, these are the players i would consider a true 1 (in no order):

Tatum, KD, Embiid, Curry, Booker, Lebron, Giannis, Butler (in the playoffs), Joker, Curry, Ja, Zion, Luka.

Solid Number 2 or players that should be the 2nd best player on a team

Brown, Kyrie, Harden (although maxie was playing more like the 2), Beal, Siakim, Wiggins, PG, Kawahii (after all these injuries, might be a 3), AD, CP3, Fox/Sabonnis, Derozen, Garland/Mitchell, Middleton, Halliburton, Trae, Bam, Dame (injuries is the only reason i have him as a 2), BI,

Kuzma is fourth best player on a title team

Unless it's very top heavy then he can be third
