Everyone in that situation is in it for them.
The problem is, because Deion is the one who stands to gain the most for leaving it, he is the one criticized the most for leaving. It really just stems from the crab mentality, frankly. Many black folks have a serious problem with black folks leveling financially, and they're using the racial solidarity that we don't have, to guilt him for his decision. Cuz, come on, we all know black racial solidarity is talked about far more than practiced. The people who do make those sacrifices are anomalies, because many of us are accustomed to running to white people because it's easier to do that. I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with Deion's decision; I'm just saying that why should he be held to so high of a standard that very few in the community hold themselves to? |
