Dec 5 - U.S. employees getting lazy, "hustle culture" disappearing
![]() There’s no doubt about it, employees across the country are pulling back at work. Labor productivity is slowing this year, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The government agency comes up with this measurement by taking output per hour and dividing that number by an index of all the workers — paid and unpaid. While this measurement increased a modest 0.3% in the third quarter, it's not enough to make up for what was lost in the first half of the year. After a 7.4% decline in Q1, productivity in the second quarter dropped another 4.1%, says the BLS. It’s yet another blow for employers struggling to keep employees engaged. First, there was the “great resignation.” And now there's quiet quitting. Quiet quitting, a workplace trend that's been sweeping the nation, isn’t necessarily about leaving your job. Instead, it refers to simply doing the bare minimum. The term has been going viral on social media — particularly on TikTok. According to a ResumeBuilder.com survey of 1,000 working Americans in August, 21% of respondents say they only do the bare minimum. Another 5% say they do even less than what they’re paid to do. The trend of quiet quitting is also shown in the amount of time people put into their work. In the survey, one-third of respondents say they’ve reduced their weekly work hours by more than 50%. |

Hustle culture was a lie. work hard, multiple jobs and 60-80 hour weeks. And look where it’s gotten people when inflation kicked in.
Pay people more but no instead we’re going to crash the economy and for e people to take those sh*t jobs and restart because they know with every out of work desperation begins and they can continue to keep people in the hamster wheel. |

People would rather feel like they're in business for themselves, no matter how lacking in success they really are, than have stability as employees. Everybody doesn't want the responsibility it takes to be successful for themselves. But everybody wants the acclaim and money. Truthfully, being a business owner ain't for everybody. Nothing wrong w/getting a paycheck. People would rather lose w/pride than win w/humility.

Go on Indeed.com, do a 3 career search. See salaries and requirements, hours and such. Then look up 2 bedroom apartments in that area and how much traffic congestion before 8am. sh*t isn’t n*ggas getting lazy, sh*t is folks are tired of basically working for free. What I mean, n*ggas are working all day. Just to keep a roof, gas and basic food. No real times for hobbies, luxuries, the most important thing… socializing and community building. In the 90s they had declines of parent teacher meetings and school board meetings for grade school. Now it’s even worse due to kids being born and raised on concrete multiplexes, no parks, no kids outside meeting and building friendships. So when school starts the parents have no idea, who teachers are or what’s going on at school. Kids feel lonely due to never building friendships outside of school (IE: Summer). I’m glad to have been born early 90s, it’s crazy mentally for kids today. Was reading this at my biomedical facility today… I called this before pandemic. So many young patients with mental issues as young as 7.
