The 1st 2 episodes of Willow just released and they are........
horrible
The trailer makes it look amazing in reality it is bad I'm not one to accuse hollywood of an "agenda" but this one is overt especially with disney releasing and a animated movie with a gay lead and it bombing. This one is horribly bad Let me start off with saying I have no problem with female centric leads but this one feels entirely forced and of course shes a lesbian. I have no problem with Mad Mardigan's daughter taking the lead but they basically split his character traits between his kids Here is my issue the next is a bit of a spoiler [spoiler - click to view] you can have strong female leads and a female centric cast but do it at the expense of everyone else and at the expense of telling a good story. I usually wait until the 3rd episode to make a thread if one hasnt been made, just so I can get a real feel of the story and cast and where its headed. I had high hopes for this one and it is just dumb I'm just glad I dont pay for disney+ |

Let me ask, is it bad because of the writing and dialogue, or is it bad because there are too many eye roll moments.
If the dialogue is okay, I may be able to stomach the eyeroll moments if there are some great character arcs. |

I wanted to like this but its horrible The writing is bad. Bad jokes Willow is just kind of just a co star if even that My issue is that s*xuality of any kind should not be a plot device in programing geared towards children

and based on the movie this one had to be female focus with the story evolving around the baby Elora Danon. But it shouldnt come at the expense of anyone else. So far there are no strong male roles, besides Willow and he has a backseat so far Its also a turn off for me when they play bingo with casting and writing for roles. Putting a gay black female in an interracial relationship checks the most boxes and is just lazy. Its commonly done in modern media, pandering to as many groups as possible with as little as possible. Mad Mardigans daughters girlfriend is the ginger girl from the trailer, who is mixed and a lesbian in real life so its not so much as acting as it is shaping a role around a person

you can be pro something without being anti something else. In Atlanta's case it was always a pro black series of satire based on the black culture at large with Atlanta being the sub cultural back drop. season 3 got all the way from that and just became silly sh*t we hate about white people and has nothing to do with its namesake In willows case they are promoting the idea of the strong independent woman but at the expense of men. a good writer can have one without the expense of the other as far as the the gay part its a slippery slope lees than 3% identify as LGBTQ nationally but west hollywood where most writers and producers live has historically been at or above 40% so as far as what 99% see in daily life its an over representation but as far as where they live its under representation so as far as seeing gays on tv its not a problem for me so long as its not just a plot device and is integral to the story of ADULT programming. no s*x should be part of the plot childrens programming Last edited by dubsax; 12-01-2022 at 10:35 PM..

I usually wait until the 3rd episode of any program to really have an opinion but this was just too blatant

I never realized it until I was older and my sisters called it out when they asked what toys I played with when I was little he always wore pastels and tights wore an S&M harness hardly any female characters looked more like a male stripper than action hero lesbians took over velma like gays did rainbows from leprechauns

I've only seen the first episode, and thought something felt a little off.
I asked my youngest son to watch it with me, and he got up to use the bathroom and never came back- so it wasn't just me. Gonna try and catch up some, but if it's how you expressed then I'll just throw on the original classic Willow and call it a day. Gotta know when to fold as they say. ![]() |
