I’d rather have 6 in all realness. Top 2 get a bye. Bottom 4 duke it out. Still don’t like automatic conference championship qualifiers, either. Last edited by ptwist; 12-01-2022 at 12:57 AM..

Folks complaining about 12 being too many when in fact it should be 16.
Why not follow the HS State Playoff formula in most states. There are 130 FBS programs who are eligible to compete for the national championship and folks in here complaining about 12 teams being too many? lol smh |

As is, the current formula still has the two best teams smacking the first round opponents. Don’t remember a good 1/4 or 2/3 match up since the inception… y’all want a 3 loss Baylor to get their sh*t pushed in by Bama or Georgia? ![]() 6 is ideal. 8, whatever… I like the idea of rewarding the top 2 teams with a week off and letting the pretenders battle it out.

Imagine if they ran it exactly like March madness. Just have a few less games during the regular season then start the brackets! There can be even more brand sponsors for the early rounds and bring in the more familiar bowls during the elite 8 and final 4

The last two seasons, Ohio State has played Michigan with the stakes being, "The winner is in the playoff, the loser is not" (yeah, it's still possible that Ohio State gets in this year). Those stakes will be gone in the future. Both of those teams (win or lose) would still be in "the 12".
Folks just need to admit that it's not about "the sport", they're just here to be entertained. |
