![]() ![]() "Nintendo has dropped the second trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie in a short Nintendo Direct. This new footage shows much more of the film, which is still slated for April 2023. The trailer blazes through many iconic items, characters, and locations from the series, including Fire Flowers, karts, various familiar platforming hazards, the Tanooki Suit, and more. Luigi, Peach, Bowser, Toad, and Mario also get more speaking time. And while Donkey Kong doesn’t utter a word, Shigeru Miyamoto noted that the character was slightly redesigned to have a more comical look reminiscent of the original character. The film stars Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek, and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike. The Super Mario Bros. Movie is being directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic (collaborators on Teen Titans Go! To the Movies) from a screenplay by Matthew Fogel (The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, Minions: The Rise of Gru). Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri and Nintendo legend Shigeru Miyamoto are producing. Nintendo and Universal Pictures are co-financing the project. ![]() |

Most people under 50 have encountered Mario in some iteration at some time in life. My first Mario experience was playing Donkey Kong arcade game at the roller rink when I was four, soon to beg my parents for the game for my Atari 2600.
Now, I'm 45 and although I haven't played a Mario game actively since Mario 64, I now get to watch my niece and nephew get it in on whatever it is they're playing these days on the Switch. Maybe not day one, but I'm definitely looking forward to seeing this. |

I can't stand those basic a*s, voices.
They are playing themselves, not their characters. Guess it was hard finding a person of Italian-descent or...I would even take a Hispanic person. |
