The Batman Sequel Hasn’t Asked Joker Actor Barry Keoghan to Return

"The Batman actor Barry Keoghan, who plays the Joker, hasn’t been asked to return to his role yet.

In an interview with GQ Magazine, Keoghan revealed that Warner Bros. hasn’t yet approached him about reprising his part as The Clown Prince of Crime. However, the actor confirmed that he won't require much convincing to join the sequel. "As soon as that call comes, I’m there man," Keoghan said. "I’m there."

Keoghan took over the coveted role of the Joker in The Batman - the Caped Crusader's latest big screen outing. The iconic villain appears as a cameo in the film, during the final moments in a scene set at Arkham Asylum after The Riddler (Paul Dano) is incarcerated. While Keoghan’s appearance in the film may have been short, a deleted scene from The Batman showcased the Joker's initial role in the film.

While talking about his possible return as the Joker, Keoghan also discussed the experiences that impacted his performance. The actor explained that the Joker is formed from his personal experience – "a bit charming and a bit hurt."

While previous renditions of the iconic villain have had colorful makeup, Keoghan’s Joker sports a heavily scarred face with the actor insisting that he retain his blue eyes so that his Joker would still feel authentic behind the makeup. "I wanted some sort of human in there behind the makeup," he said. "I want people to relate to him… [to know] this is a façade he puts on." He went on to describe his character as simply "a broken-down boy."

Despite having a brief appearance in The Batman, Keoghan has made quite an impact with his performance. The actor himself noted that he was recently included in a list of the best on-screen Jokers. "There were seven and I was number four," he said. "Lads, with four minutes of screen time, not bad eh!?"

As Keoghan awaits a call from Warner Bros., he’s got other plans. The actor is hoping to secure a part in Taika Waititi’s Star Wars movie. "I’m tryna meet him," he said, "I’ve been askin’ everyone." He also shared a list of some other directors he’d like to work with in the future, including Andrea Arnold, Lynne Ramsay, and Céline Sciamma.

While Warner Bros. has officially announced a sequel to The Batman, with Robert Pattinson reprising his role as Bruce Wayne, the film has yet to receive a release date. The Batman is now streaming on HBO Max."

Nah. It was good for what it was worth for that one scene. The scene with Batman should’ve stayed in the movie. The dark knight was basically a joker movie. Ppl k*ll me acting like Heath or jack are the only people who could ever play him right

It doesn't start filming until mid to late next year. Plus Reeves wants Joker to be part of the Arkham Asylum series more than the actual films so far based on how he broke down the transition from Gotham PD.

Maybe he can be in it, but so far there isn't a reason for him to be called on this early in development.

Him doing a criminal minds/Hannibal Lector bit with the Joker would actually have been a cool concept but the movie was already so long there was no time for it. As it was he barely even helped.

DC ain't sh*t. Absolutely ZERO continuity.

2 Batmans

3 jokers

No superman

Absent green lantern, justice league was incomplete without John Stewart.

The shows don't even correspond with the films

No joker please batman have so many good villains. What they did with riddler was so good. This movie was good because they allowed batman to be a detective. I would like see Mad hatter or Hugo strange.

The Joker is now a prestigious character because of Jack and then Heath

He is as prestigious as James Bond

You may not like it, but the bar has been set and any actor who plays the Joker will be compared to Jack and Heath.

When the Joker is onscreen people now expect it to be iconic

As we saw with Jared Leto, his Joker was embarrassingly bad

It's a multiverse bro just like Marvel doing now.

John Stewart was in ZSJL but the studio forced Snyder to take him out.

GL movie and HBO Max series hasn't officially been canceled.

Shows on CW is its own universe. The HBO Max shows (Peacemaker) is canon with the theater movies.

His sh*t wasn't embarrassingly bad dude was only in the movie for 12 minutes. And his scene with Harley was the best part of the damn movie.

Why do people bi*ch about The Batman’s runtime? Endgame was 3 hours and you f*g**ts literally cried at the end of that.
