Poor countries don't have that luxury.

Let's be honest, in times of crisis like these where some humans are having trouble eating, nobody will care about animal rights any more.

The ability to worry about animal conditions is an absolute privilege and the sign of a very prosperous society.

I hate to say it but it's less about the cruelty at this point and more about the impact that sh*t has on the environment. The world can't sustain western diets globally, we're gonna have to stay pivoting away from meat based meals in the long term anyway. As someone who eats meat, I hate to say it but this should become the norm. Not to mention the diseases floating around those places.
