GPD Win 4: Company boasts that new console is 'better than Steam Deck' in launch date and specifications announcement

GPD has confirmed all specifications for the Win 4, its Radeon 680M and Ryzen 7 6800U-powered gaming handheld. Not only has the company outlined the Win 4's specifications, but it has also announced its launch date. For some reason, GPD keeps gunning for the Valve Steam Deck too.

GPD has now shared all technical specifications for the Win 4, a device that it has been teasing for a week or so on social media. While pricing remains a mystery, One-netbook has shared how much the similarly-equipped ONEXPLAYER mini Pro will cost in the US. Hence, we doubt that the GPD Win 4 will retail for less than US$1,000, particularly as it comes with at least 1 TB of storage and 16 GB of RAM.

As for the Win 4, GPD claims that the device will support Windows 11 Home (64-bit), as well as Steam OS. As expected, the handheld has a 6-inch IPS display operating at 1,920 x 1,080 pixels with DC dimming support. For reference, the display is a native landscape panel, is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and can run at 40 Hz or 60 Hz. Incidentally, the 368 PPI panel is powered by the Radeon 680M and Ryzen 7 6800U, plus LPDDR5-6400 RAM, a PCIe Gen 4.0 x4 SSD and a 45.62 Wh battery.

Bizarrely, GPD continues to pit the Win 4 against the Steam Deck, not the Win 3 or any other Ryzen 7 6800U-powered gaming handhelds. Instead, the company has created a comparison table on its website in which it outlines all the ways the Win 4 outperforms the Steam Deck. Specifically, GPD stresses that the Win 4 has a smaller footprint than the Steam Deck, while delivering superior Geekbench 5 benchmark scores and offering more RAM, storage and a larger battery.

Setting that aside, GPD has announced that the Win 4 will launch in December, presumably through an Indiegogo campaign. Based on GPD's technical specifications, the Win 4 will arrive in at least three memory configurations, possibly four:

16 GB of RAM/1 TB SSD
16 GB of RAM/2 TB SSD
32 GB of RAM/1 TB SSD
32 GB of RAM/2 TB SSD

Supposedly twice as powerful image

We do anticipate a device coming in around $999 and a possible pro model at around $1199 considering similar devices on the market are going for those kind of prices.

Theres already devices more powerful than the deck

None of them can come close to the price point and aren't real contenders

The AYA NEO 2 will have the Ryzen 6800U by the end of the year. That's a Zen 3 CPU with 8 cores compared to Steam Deck Zen 2 with only 4 cores. It also shares the same RDNA 2 architecture but utilizes 12 cores running at 2Ghz compared to Steam Deck 8 cores at 1.6Ghz. Hence, it won't only be more powerful on paper but you'll notice a big difference and it will only be like $100 more than the most expensive Steam deck while boasting 1TB of storage VS 526GB or however much the most expensive Steam deck has

I'm looking to sell my steamdeck if anybody interested.

I'm not the programmer type. I just wanna buy games and play them.

Anybody interested I'll post the specs. Looking for $600-650. I got a few games downloaded already too so that's a bonus.

Maybe played it a total of 3 hours since I bought it.

one of the main selling points of the Steamdeck is the price. Valve can afford to take a loss on the device sales. They will make it up in the end.

these other devices are good as well.

but if you have to choose between two devices and there is a couple hundred dollars in price difference........well you already know which one most people will go with.

No one interested in the fpga realm of gaming?

Analogue Pocket is literally a Pocket MiSTER since Analogue unleashed openFPGA the other month. And most of the MiSTER developers are actively porting over their cores.

It’s cool and all, but for most people the cost vs performance difference between this and a steam deck isn’t going to be worth it. Valve got it just right

Go ahead and let your feelings out, pu**y

They're both sim games. Cities: Skyline came out on PS+ so I tried it on PS4 because it was free to me. Didn't click so I didn't cop on PC. That game is on Steam for under $10 all the time but if that is the level of sh*t you flex with go nuts
