When I was coming up I used to think this song was corny af, but after listening to it again on an old school rap radio station and watching the video, I realize how dope it is:
-lots of energy
-fun, eccentric dance moves that are both fun to do and hilarious
-unironically good, multi-syllabic rhyme schemes:

To the extreme, I rock a mic like a vandal
Light up a stage and wax a chump like a candle

-Had an amazing beat that Ice ended up keeping even though Queen won the case
-Has really good storytelling elements
-Responsible for exposing a lot of the mainstream to hip-hop
-Didn’t use cursing, something unheard of today
-Was written when Vanilla Ice was only SIXTEEN!
-Just an overall catchy, fun tune

Eminem came out and made folks look like “hey…. This white boy knows how to RAP RAP” and it became cool to look for white rappers. Everyone wanted them one on the label

If not for Em, labels probably woulda still been thinking white boys are just gonna be another vanilla ice who has no skills and can’t be taken seriously

Even though I never really liked Eminem’s music like that this is the truth it was like all of a sudden overnight white rappers became more excepted and the stigma of being a white rapper went away.

Yes, the Queen/Bowie straight sample was unoriginal enough, but obviously most of y'all don't know Vanilla Ice's corny a*s also stole the Black fraternity Alpha Phi Alpha's step song Too Cold for the chorus.

The Alphas have been doing that chant for a long time -- here's a video from School Daze (the movie came out in 1988, 2 years before Vanilla Ice's song).
